Tend to agree with most others have said... there will always be something newer/better/faster. If the gen2 meets your needs then go for it, I love mine! I feel like as they get later into a specific generation, usually a lot of the kinks have been worked out. Typically why I avoid buying the first year of a new generation. As long as you're under warranty you should be fine.

The plastic oil pans would crack, this was updated to a metal pan in 18+

I bought early in 2017, and I have 2 buddies who bought late 2016.

No oil leaks in any. So not sure how big a concern it is, but agree that having a warranty is better!

I'm actually surprised that not one of us has needed any repairs in a first year model vehicle. Very impressed with Ford on that.

I have a 2013 with almost 90k miles and was wondering what the best gen 2 raptor would be I’ve heard a lot of complaints about the transmission and electrical problems and turbos failing, also the ticking noises. Just trying to find the most reliable year.

Go with the 2019 or 2020. It looks like Ford is introducing a new suspension for 2021, which can be a potential source for new issues. Turbos, electrical systems, and transmission all seem to be pretty well sorted out in 2019. I've heard no odd noises and have not had any issues with the transmission or electrical systems.

That's why I'm keeping my Gen 1. I have over 150,000 miles and No problems. I rather put 20 grand into it and make it brand new again then have a 40 grand or more after trade for new on a loan. Love my Gen 1
