Thank you! Got it working.

Try this:
- Download the Google Assistant app.
- Open up the app, it should tell you what setting you need to go to make Google the default app. This worked for me, although I don't know if Google will hear you without first opening up a google app. I don't use it very often and haven't tested much.

Unrelated...after getting voice control to work, I decided to pull out the mic with that came with the unit and use that instead of the tablet's mic. Since I have an aftermarket stereo, the center speaker area was unused. If you remove the center speaker itself, the mic will clip on to the edge there, the put the speaker grill back on. Works great for voice control. I'm not sure how it works for bluetooth phone conversations, haven't tried that since I use sync for phone.

Also noticed that the tablet seems to reboot less often when the engine's off now with Nova instead of Index. That's great, but has me a little worried that it's draining the car battery.

Edit: Forgot to add...if you are still using the center speaker, you can probably still mount the mic under the center grill. There are slats in the plastic underneath the grill that only need to widened slightly to fit the mic.

'm doing basically the same thing. When Nova boots up, I hit the Console button and then the home button to take me to Nova and all is good. When I get time, I'm going to try and automate this process with Tasker or Automate. Below is my current software.

Using the Automate program and the "Start App at Boot" Flow I now have the unit booting to the "Console" or Sync screen 1st to trigger the audio. Nova is still the default launcher, so when I choose the home button, unit switches to Nova and audio apps have sound.

The Flow could be edited to add Nova so upon boot-up, unit would go to console and then to Nova. I actually prefer going to the console screen upon boot-up, my wife is familiar with the SYNC system, so when she is driving without me, it will be easier for her (just so she doesn't hit the home button).

And FYI.... I think it’s pretty cool that you are bing mindful of the fact that perhaps your wife doesn’t want to have to learn and deal with the Phoenix android system.

This is actually a pretty good idea to default to sync just in general for the times when someone else is using the vehicle.

Couple of fuddy duddies.

I think my issue might be a little different. I’m in sync 3 and for whatever reason once they console us open... if I don’t launch an app via the Phoenix app drawer or launch bar... it doesn’t switch the sound over. What’s interesting is that ok startup my app sound works fine. When I fire up the console and then try to open apps via the nova launcher that I get no sound switching.

I think what I need is for automate to kill the console or something and then open the audio app of choice... to get it to work from
Nova

Ok I figured it out...

I can launch aux or “music” from nova and it works to switch the audio.

so I need to automate so that one of them opens prior to the launch of the app of choice.

How’s a guy do that?
