I have a 2013 with almost 90k miles and was wondering what the best gen 2 raptor would be I’ve heard a lot of complaints about the transmission and electrical problems and turbos failing also the ticking noises. Just trying to find the most reliable year.

Honestly I don't care what year mine is as long as it's under warranty. I have an 18 and have had no issues other than the 10 speed trans takes some getting used to. Every now and then it will shift a little aggressive, however I think most of it is due to load/driving style.

I would get one with the most warranty as these trucks are expensive to repair if needed. Just the price to pay to own anything now days.

Loved my Gen one 13 Raptor as well! Miss that truck......

Good luck!

2017 thru 2020 are basically the same.

sounds like you should keep your Gen1. I heard they are good for 300k miles without any repairs.

Don't focus on year, focus on condition, mileage and options. Understand that the nature of an automotive forum magnifies issues on vehicles that are not that widespread. If I was in the market for a gen 2, I would not be concerned with ANY of the reports I've seen on this forum and elsewhere; as long as the vehicle checks out, I would buy it without regret.

If your Gen1 is running fine, keep it!! @ 90K its just about getting broken in..
As far as which year is better.....As my Lawyer use to say every time I asked him a question that could not be answered..."Wait George while I go get my Crystal Ball....
There are good and bad in every year and you never know if your going to get a lemon....As others have said...if it has a full warranty, just go for what you like...

19 was a respectable update and for me has been completely trouble free. The 19 and 20 model year is identical. The 17s has oil pan issues and 18s are missing a few features that came out in 19. For now the 19 or 20 model year are the most bullet proof feature rich models. That's not to say any of the years are bad or problematic it's just that the 19 and 20 have benefited from the growing pains and have a few little features/refinements added.
