2013-2014 Raptors Sync 2 -> Sync 3 Upgrade

@michiganave - with regard to the Ford Remote Access, you will be fine upgrading to Sync 3. My 2014 has the remote access and sync 3 upgrade with no issues.

I had no troubles either. I upgraded and every works great!

I have been thinking about adding the Ford Remote Pass to my Gen 1. I would like to be able to start my vehicle at a farther distance than what I can with the key. How do you both like using it?

I know there is a long range key upgrade that I could do too.

It's almost a must have for me with the summer heat in Florida. Starting the truck a minute or two before you get in, along with some decent window tint and a reflective sun shield will keep the cabin temps down considerably.

Is there a limit on how far away you can be to start the vehicle with your phone? I often use the remote start on my key fob and let it idle 5-10 mins before I get into it. But you have to be fairly close to use the key, which is why I was wanting to try the app.

I live in Florida too. I have the 3M Crystalline on all my windows plus I have a WeatherTech sun shade for each window—I normally only use the windshield one though.

For the Remote Access it is based upon cellular. So as long as where you park has 3G or 4G cell service within the US or Canada, the range is infinite. There is a fee of ~$49 a year. You also need to pay to add VSS/remote access hardware which at my local dealers was >$700. I initially read about it on this forum. It is truly awesome to have, hence I wasn't willing to lose it to do the Sync3 upgrade! I usually don't even bring my key with when doing sports, just my phone. http://www.fordremoteaccess.com/en/

Has anyone tried this wireless dongle for our CarPlay? I’ve read great reviews for people with other vehicles, I’m hoping it works for us! (Note there are multiple versions to choose from)

So I have been looking at adding surround cameras to my 2014 with Sync3 and speaking with a few vendors. Here is what I'm thinking of trying.

Naviks NK1316

If you’re an iPhone user you definitely would want this if you’ve ever used the sync 3, it is expensive but it’s oem and plug and play no b.s.

Let me know if you do this...I think there are a few of us that might be interested in the set up and methods used
