Just thought I would post my experience with the General Grabber AT/X I had in the last month and would love to know if others have had a similar experience. I had read so many great things about them and was excited to get them on the truck!
Found a local shop that had a set that were "dealer takeoffs" with maybe 50 miles on them. It was obvious they were very new and all 4 had a 0219 date code. It was a good price compared to new so I figured, yeah, why not? Well, I would soon very much regret that.
A few days later, I get them mounted and they look great. After leaving the shop I thought that they seemed a little bouncy but I was on back roads and figured it must have been the street or that I wasn't used to the tires yet. Well after getting on the highway, I soon realized there was a big problem. The whole bed of the truck was shaking and bouncing up and down and I figured the shop MUST have forgotten to balance one because it was so bad. They balanced them and still, same thing.
Brought them to Firestone to have a Road force balance done and they called me saying that all 4 tires were bad. Road force numbers should have read under 25 according to the manager and my tires read at the best in the 90's and at worst, one was 221.
Fast forward a few days and all 4 tires are replaced with brand new ones (3 of which had the 0219 date code). Get back on the highway and guess what, same shake. All over the truck. Steering wheel, mirror, seat, bed. Its all shaking pretty bad. Going back for set number 3 now, fingers crossed!
