Had mine rebuilt last nov, and already look bad, Rust, peeling finish, and Ring marks on the front ones, I contacted them and sent in pics as the requested, was told damage was from elements and weather,,, wtf 11 months !!! And the ring marks ?? No answer for that question, I deff won’t recommend these guys , next time I’ll buy new , some of the marks I can see caused marks sure but rust not ever a year and ring marks ! Told a few guys who work and dealer ships if they r ever asked about rebuilding shocks don’t use these guys , show them my pics .

Yep, have their rebuilds, no performance issues, some corrosion underneath where the schrader valve is located, but easily cleaned up with some copper wool and corrosion prevention coating. Rest of the shock body in good shape. I keep shock lightly coated in corrosion prevention material and apply silicon spray on any of the rubber / plastic surfaces of the shock body / mounts. As long as not leaking and maintaining pressure, applying little preventive TLC will clean your shocks up nicely and stop further corrosion. I plan to use their rebuild services again in about 25,000 miles.

well you have to remember its an exchange program. you are giving up new in exchange for used rebuild and cheaper. do they leak? or does it feel squishy? depending on where the person lives will determin the aesthetics of the shock body. but if they arent faulty, you shouldnt be so quick to judge. i know they replace a lot of internal parts that cant be used again. i wached them rebuild my shocks as i live close enough to make the drive to have them do it and realistically, a lot of people do use the truck offroad so the shock bodies will see some wear. mine certainly had some wear. i know i dont want to spend the money on new ones, or have my truck down while waiing for mine to be sent in and rebuilt. the exchange program is just that. you give them yours, they give you someone elses, your truck is back on the road with no down time. now if you are having mechanical issues with the shocks, then thats something else that im sure they will address right away. but seeing them rebuild mine, i would give up shiny and new for rebuilt anyday. i spend too much time on dirt to care about shiny shocks. im sure if my shocks were in the exchange program, you would definitely complain about how they look. i first got my truck in norcal and spent a lot of time at the oceano sand dunes (beach and ocean). then i moved to colorado where they put down mag chloride (essentially salt) on the roads to help melt the snow. now im back in norcal and go to the dunes again. both of which will cause excessive wear on the body, but doesnt affect the internals. rust will appear overnight so you have to maintain them to prevent it. just try to remember you got essentially new shocks (from a mechanical standpoint) for much cheaper than buying new, you just gave up the shiny part.

Bitching over nothing

They will rebuild yours instead if you don’t want to do the exchange and wait. All exchange programs are the same unless you want to pay more.

Should of read the disclaimer on their website and understand they are used.

Disclaimers:
The shocks we ship out are NOT NEW and are not in NEW condition. The shocks we send out on the exchange program are USED. Thus they can have scratches, dings, etc on them. We do our best to send out the best looking shocks we can whether OE finish or our standard refinish. If shocks come to us with rust or corrosion on them, they go through our refinish process. The refinish process does not include the blue anodized aluminum parts! Again, these are used shocks, there will be scratches, dings, scrapes and other cosmetic damage as they are USED SHOCKS! If you want new shocks, we can help you buy new shocks. If you want shocks that perform as good as new or better, then we are the right choice.

I've used them, now about 15K miles ago, and had some internal extras added during the rebuild process. I called, ordered in advance, and live close enough that a drive and couple hours of waiting got my rebuilds installed in their shop. Were the rebuilds as pretty on the otuside as mine that I turned in? No, but the performance was and has remained trouble free and noticeably better. They were very helpful before and during the decision process. They have Raptors, use and race them and were great to bounce questions to tailor the rebuild to what I do with my truck. Definitely a repeat customer.

I can see both sides of this.

1. I wouldn't want those shocks on my Raptor, they look like crap.
2. But saying that, I understand the exchange policy.

I'm thankful this issue was brought up. I will NOT be utilizing the exchange program, I'll gladly send my shocks in and wait. I don't want that those ghetto looking shocks on my Raptor.

MHO... :)

A grand will buy 4 shocks on here or ebbay that are takeoffs with less than 5000 miles. Put the pretty ones on or send those in and get them rebuilt if you want to. They will rebuild and send your shocks back to you. . Not rocket science. You can have a pretty set on the shelf ready to put on when needed

Just watched their videos and spoke with them, gave me confidence that they know these shocks inside and out. I told them my shocks were immaculate and the truck has never once been off road and I would like to send pictures so they could accurately core match. They declined and pretty much said you get what you get... I own a large classic car parts business and my customers are VERY picky about core exchanges so I do in fact ask them to send detailed pictures in advance so they are happy with what they get in exchange. My error was getting them mixed up with what I read at Texas Shock Works "1. Give us information about your truck, the grade of shocks you would like back, and the grade of shocks you will be sending in." Crossing my fingers on what I get, will not really be able to complain much if they do not come back looking like mine...
