Lol I was thinking the same thing. At the end, if you think a mass produced truck will be come a collectors item, you are delusional

I have been called delusional before...in fact I brew beer and named one of my brews "DELUSIONAL INTELLIGENCE"...so,delusional or not...Your calling a Gen1 Shelby Raptor which only 100 per model year were made a MASS produced truck....if so....we should have one of my beers together....
No worries...everyone has their own way of thinking about "value"

Comparing a split window ‘63 vette to a gen 1 raptor??? Like I said, you gen 1 guys make me laugh.

But I would hold on to yours! I’m sure in 30 years and 250,000 miles later I will see it at Mecum’s for a million dollars!

Well, first off I wasnt "comparing" a Corvette to a Raptor...I was comparing vehicle values, and since I'm no expert like alot on this forum think they are,was only using because I know the Corvette and wasnt going to rant about car values I dont know....
So to use it again....if I paid $1000 and kept for 40+ years and its now worth $50-60K I'd say its a collector vehicle..not an old 55 year old beater with 250K on it..sure,might of made more in the Stock market over those years, but you cant have much fun sitting on a stock certificate....
I doubt a 30 year old Raptor rode hard and put away wet with 250K on it is ever going to be a collector vehicle.....BUT alot of vehicles that are 30-40-50 years old and were well cared for and unique for the time, will become collector vehicles.....and I personally think the Shelby Raptor might be one....
With that said, hit me back in 2049 and come over for a beer while I'm counting my stack of $100's...and if my Shelby brings that $1mil...being the nice guy that I am,I'll buy you a new 2049 Raptor just for kicks..!! :anitoof:

I know it's hard for some to hear, but the gen 2 is not going to have the same resale numbers as the gen 1. It's just not going to happen. There were too many produced, they don't have the benefit of being the first model of a one of a kind truck, and they don't have the same mystique. That does not mean they aren't awesome trucks - they just don't have some of the intangible factors that keep gen 1 values high.

Right now Gen1s are depreciating faster (percentage wise) than Gen2s. See my post above that shows the numbers. (gen1 lost 20% over last two years as compared to 15% for gen2)

You're ignoring volume of production. Once the gen 2 trucks start coming off lease in droves, and trust me there will he a LOT of them, the depreciation will be exponential.

The gen 1 started off as a limited production, niche vehicle. Production ramped up for 13 and 14, but was then discontinued. The gen 2 was a mass produced truck from the start because Ford knew they would sell. They were no longer looked at as niche, they were looked at more as a trim level.

Raptor was never offered as a leased vehicle.

Yea, You can't lease a raptor, it's one of their vehicles they don't lease.

I hope you are right! Because if the Gen 2's depreciation is exponential then the Gen 1's will be dirt cheap! I'd love to pick up a used Gen 1 for cheap to just use as a beater.
