Debating this for my ‘12 SCREW.

Sony is releasing the XAV-AX8000 in December - $600 for an up-to-date infotainment system with a 9” screen. Rear-camera compatible. The only issue is that I can’t find anything about it keeping the climate control capability of the native SYNC system, which is a bummer. I emailed Sony about it and got a response that reads like it was written by an automated algorithm or someone without a firm grasp of English/the question I was asking. Not sure if the system can handle the climate control interface or if there’s an adapter available to bring in that functionality. Still, I wanted to put this on the radar for the other Gen 1 owners who are looking to upgrade from the SYNC system.

To follow up, if anyone figures out an adapter that would allow climate control functionality with this unit, please let me know...

Have you looked at idatalink Maestro Road Runner? I know that it had capability to integrate those features on other vehicles, assuming the aftermarket head unit supports it. I just installed a Kenwood DNX995S in my Wrangler, and it will link directly to to Road Runner to support those functions, of course the 2014 Wrangler is a little too primative for all the fancy stuff...

Edited to add: link for product, looks like it does integrate with climate control per this matrix:

I belatedly thought about the Maestro, and it looks like it supports both the climate control feature and Sony’s model which preceded the one I posted. So hopefully they’ll upgrade the RR to work with this new Sony model and all should be good. Thanks for bringing it up though, it’s a good device to know about

Watching this with interest as it has now been released to market. Anyone first to try? Not my strong suit
