trust me, my truck has been referred to as " that dope raptor with the carbon fiber widebody kit" more than I'd like. I guess if I cared enough, I'd correct people, but my truck probably wont ever be used for a "car show" ever again. If it does end up at a trade show or something, my preference is that I drag it straight there after about 500 miles in the desert so that it is clear how it gets used.

Haha it’s tough to hear the criticism but yeah when your truck is used to being “sent” it’s hard to look at a truck like mine. I’ve wanted a tonka truck as long as i could remember. That’s why i went super cab. I had to move the step rail back to clear the tires

hey, if your goal is tonka truck, you're well on your way. I dont judge dreams or goals. Building a desert mobber truck seems stupid for a dude from new orleans, but it's my dream truck and one that I intended to build when my dad was still alive to take him to baja.

dream that dream, hit that mark, F**K all the haters.

I feel ya on that when my father in law was given 3 years left due to bone marrow cancer I took him on a pre run from Reno to Vegas and it was the best ******* time he ever had. Hit whoops at 70 and bounced the beer right out of his hand and spilled all over the floorboard lol. Finally got to Vegas around 10:30pm and took him to Heart Attack Grill. Until the day he died he told everyone about the trip and the day before he died in a coma like state I said hey Bud (actual name) let’s go hit the desert. He tried ripping all the tubes and shit out of him and I had to tell him easy man sorry we can’t really go. Love ya Bud! 78 years old in these pics.

That is 300% awesome man. My pops made it to 71 and that was it.

after he got diagnosed with AML ( which was super late stage. he had been misdiagnosed for about 5 years at that point), every time he was in the hospital for a bone marrow transplant, or anything else, i sat next to him in his room, showing him pictures and videos of different trucks ripping through the desert. He made it 2.5 years after the transplant but never was well enough to go on any sort of trip. (docs wouldn't let him travel)

I have a notebook full of the notes and ideas that he'd write down when I wasn't there. I still go back to it whenever I need a little inspiration to keep going with it. I promised him on his death bed, that I'd finish my truck and take my brother and my nephews on the trip we talked about for literally hundreds of hours.

I have a couple more years until my oldest nephew is big enough to go on a trip, but I won't let it go until the truck is what my dad's biggest dreams thought it should be, and the boys get to hit Baja with me and my brother.

I can relate to both of your situations. My girlfriend found my father in my house last September a day before his 69th birthday. Sucks!! I decided to trade my gen1 in on a 2 and went way farther than planned on mods. You live every day and die once. Go big!!
