All,

I have a loud noise that sounds like it may be tires starting at 45mph. Goes completely away when I let off the gas. It stays but seems lesser as you go faster. Is this tire noise, and is this normal? I have had this since day 1 and also changed rims and tires from Oem to Oem beadlock 2019 at 5k miles. Oem headlocks had 2k on them at time of change. Tires KO2 for both.

Thanks for the help.

what kind of noise; as in, what does it sound like?

so you changed from non-beadlock to beadlock capable at 5k miles. Did you mount your original tires to them, OR, source other tires - new or used?

If the orientation of the tires changed, you could get some more noticeable howling from the tires as the wear pattern changes, it usually goes down in a few hundred miles and you get used to it at the same time.

if you had it from day one it may just be tire noise, 35’s are louder than say the tires on a Lexus sedan.

I see. The tires changed out were from another raptor owner. They were already mounted and balanced from their raptor. The tires were rotated on install. Those tires had 2k miles on them approximately. It just seems to be a loud howl at 45 mph. Goes silent once you let off gas and decreases as you go faster. I was just wondering if this was normal for the truck. No sound at all below 45.

Yup, sounds like gear/pinion from what you’re describing.

Smurfslayer,

Technician reviewed and indeed said pinion. I read another post where you diagnosed by listening to a muffled video. You have a gift.

Thanks for the info!

Thanks for reporting back. Now we know. The good news is, it’s a fairly quick fix and once it’s right, it’s right.
