I have been driving my Raptor for approx 4 months and I am not feeling it, I paid approx. 90k CDN and I am having a hard time justifying the cost. if I paid 65 CDN I would okay with it. The GEN 1 Raptor was really cool and the price was perfect, you can sell a GEN 1 here for almost what it cost new if it has low mileage and a minty.

I made the mistake of driving a Ram recently, a friend bought a 18 that they were blowing out, he paid around 50K CDN. The transmission shifting and engine sound was awesome, not going to lie. Its not as nice as a Raptor, but nothing 10K could not fix. That said, the dash shifter was a non starter.

My biggest complaints are:

a) lack of power, the bottom end is great but if you floor it at 110-120 km/h its got nothing.

b) the stereo is bad, it sounds like a factory base unit. MAYBE I screwed up and got a lower level stereo as I never ordered the lane assist, maybe a better stereo came with that package. A friend of mine has a Ford f150 and his stereo is way better, he said it is a SONY and it comes with a sub.

c) it takes a long time to engage drive or reverse, when I perform a 3 point turn its frustrating as I have to wait for engagement or it sounds bad.

I am deciding whether I should keep it or sell it and take the hit. If I keep it what are your recommendations to improve these issues? Thanks !!

PS. I did not post this to start a argument, its my personal opinion at this time.

Have you tried all the modes? Sport, tow/haul, Manual shifting/paddles?

A tune will really wake the truck up. I never had a problem with mashing the pedal at higher speeds.

For my needs, the B&O sound system is more than enough.

Ask your dealer to look at the transmission. A small number have reported a delay or hard clunk (when cold/@ startup) when engaging reverse. Let your idle drop at startup - see if that helps.

If you decide to sell, you won’t take that much of a loss if you paid less than MSRP.

I though the rear bench seats were clear underneath. Is that a change?

Have you driven a Raptor through the Raptor Assault course in Utah? I just came back and have a new appreciation for the truck. It is not a pavement princess. You should sell it and get another truck if you don’t plan to take it off road. If you want power, then wait for the Dodge with hellcat motor. If you want an all around capable truck, then keep the Raptor.

Take your friend and his Ram with your Raptor out to some dunes and have fun off-roading. You should notice quite a difference in performance for what it was designed to do.

Yes I have tried the modes, sport is the best, it wakes the bottom end up but not the top.

Do I have the B&O Stereo?, it has no labels, it sounds like a loud am radio. I have a Hellcat (cheaper vehicle), the factory stereo is serious business.

What do you mean by "Let your idle drop at startup" ?

I added rear bench storage, there is nothing factory to my knowledge, its made by Husky.

-console vault
-buffed -ceramic pro gold, 4 x paint / 1x other surfaces, 2 week cure time indoors
-paint protection on all leading edges
-Husky under seat rear storage
-Husky floor mats, front and rear
-Husky formed mudflaps
-JLT air/oil separator (factory connectors)
-Truxido Box Cover Roll Up

You may be right, we don't have any fancy courses, just your typical mud and blood. Most comparably set up 4x4's do just fine. I had a power wagon and I had zero issues 4X4 ing here.

Sadly thats my point, buy a 18 for 50k add 10-15 worth of add ons and away I go. I was expecting more for the price, lower the price and it works...

Sound like you got the 801 a package since you got the base stereo. If you wanted more you should of sprung for the 802 but I don’t really understand what more is and what you are expecting

I have the 802 a according to my build sheet.

Some people will understand what I am saying some won't. I have owned in excess of 200 or 300 vehicles. If this was my first truck I would probably be on the moon. I think they blew it with this engine in this application, you can get the same engine in a Limited and its faster, seems like a bad strategy to me.

I am not brand loyal, it is what it is... I know guys that think their brand is the best and will argue till they die. I judge each vehicle on its own merits. Where I live it sounds like the benefits of a Raptor are not usable, my bad for buying it.
