I'm a big believer in dashcams, been running a Blackvue (2ch) on my last three cars. I use them because I live where there's a huge number of uninsured people, some of whom are well known to purposely cause accidents to claim neck or back pain and sue. Or sometimes a fender bender comes down to a he-said she-said and the video could help me avoid a liability or wrongdoing scenario.

But any camera (Ring/Nest/Alexa/etc.) can only serve as a deterrent to getting broken into, they serve zero function as a tool to prosecute someone who broke into your truck or stole a package from your porch. You might live in a special place where this is not true, but for 95% of us, the police will not even look at the video/pictures, they just file a report if you're lucky. It's different if there was violence against a person of course, maybe a pet, but not if they broke into your raptor, there's too much crime and not enough manpower to devote to what is considered petty crime.
