If you consider upgrading go with the 18 and save some cash for future upgrades, if you do not consider upgrading invest in the 19 as it will have a better resale value.
Agreed. If you ever wanted to upgrade the shocks to King or something else go with a 17 or 18. The 19's with the "live valve" make it virtually impossible to switch to anything else. If you are happy with stock shocks then it does not make a difference.

2019 added suspension upgrade=worth it and trail control=worth it and Recaro seats=worth it. ANYONE telling you that the 18 is just as good is lying to you. If you're one of those guys who thinks that paying up for a perfectly tuned suspension and then modifying the suspension then go ahead and buy an 18...heck buy a regular F150 and have at it. It is silly to buy the Raptor then start messing with the suspension as that is the main difference between the Raptor and other off road trucks on the market. One guy said he went to raptor assault and didn't use trail control..lmao..then how can he have an opinion on it? Trail control is pretty cool but if you're not planning to use it off road then you won't miss it. The Recaro seats are awesome...I got them in mine and love them. Careful on the forums as you get some really wierd opinions. Bottom line is....if you like improved suspension, the added capability of trail control that will send power to each of the four wheels as needed...something you can't do yourself....while maintaining a constant speed and the additional comfort of Recaro then get a 19. If you want to get a slightly lesser truck and save a few bucks then get an 18

Hey guys. I’m looking at possibly picking up a gen 2 (currently driving a gen1) in the next few months. My question for you guys, is it worth it to get a brand new 2019 or save some money and find a low mileage 2018? I like the new car thing but would also like to save 10k and get a used one. Is the live link suspension worth it or anything else worth it on the 2019s

Depends on what you’re looking for. I have. ‘19 and a friend of mine has a ‘14. He is going to take his ‘14 to Rousch and get the raptor upgrade that is around 12k and get new suspension, tires, reenforced frame, and the engine gets beefed up to 600-700hp. Since Rousch is affiliated with ford it comes with a warranty as well.

Man you are such a simpleton. Do we have to spell every detail out for you. At the raptor assault. I tried the trail control. I even said it was cool. Then did the course as my truck was built. Without it. I also said I had no trouble keeping up with other trucks using it.

Point being....all the stuff on the 19's are cool as hell......but none of them a 100% needed and make a 19 or 20 worth the extra cash over a 17 or 18 in the OP's original question.

Valid points and if you value the new "upgraded" things then by all means buy the 19. However, keep in mind that the Raptor (and most every other car or truck short of a Pagani) is build to a certain price point and manufacturers do not use the very best components i.e. King shocks, stereo, etc... Yes, it is easy enough to improve on an already great truck but you are correct that changing the geometry of the suspension (that Ford spent millions on) by jacking the truck up is not the best idea in most situations and unless you are willing to spend a lot of money. For this I would agree to your idea of buying a regular F-150, actually, a F250 would be better for the stronger axles for 35" tires and above. Which year Raptor is best depends on the plans you have for the truck. As for the Recaro seats they are nicer than the standard ones but for the amount charged you could find something with more support but would lack the integrated air conditioned seat. Finally, the trail control for an experienced off-roader is not needed, can be counter productive in certain situations and adds unnecessary complexity & cost. If the driver is a novice trail control would be useful. Full disclosure: I have the Recaro seats. Over time if you plan on keeping the truck the more electronic stuff that Ford puts on the truck the more I would assume it will fail over time. One absolute good statement you can say about the 19's is they have the steel oil pan vs. the plastic one on earlier years but some late model 18's may have the steel pan as well. I understand when you say "worth it" and that is your opinion but a better answer would be "it depends."

I went from 14 to an 18 and I’m extremely happy!!! I vote for a smokin deal on an 18 and avoid any possible issues with the live valve shocks of the 19. I have SVC intercooler with Cobb access port and a custom tune from @goosetuned stage 2, it ******* Rips!!!! Geisers up front and deavers out back on 37s. Just make sure the 18 has the metal oil pan.

Thanks guys for the good info. I just paid off the gen 1 so it’ll likely be a while before i get the gen 2. I’d like to have a little time with no truck payment.

This might be a dumb question but are the rear leafs the same between gen1 and gen2? I have Deavers on mine right now and would be nice not to have to buy them again if i could just swap them. Doubt the frame attachment points are the same though

Leaf springs are not interchangeable between GEN1 and GEN2’s
