Whoever at Ford decided how long the pass-through wires under the kick panel should be, well....they should be flogged.

Took me 20 minutes to find them - and after untaping them, there is zero hope of getting strippers or crimpers up in there - let alone a soldering iron should you want to do it right. Ugh, I had to remove the top plug going into the fuse box to find them. Just lightly wiggling them, one of the dipped ends broke off of one of the 5A wires. Just UGH.

Seriously, I may just run 6 new wires through the firewall so it's done right.

I don't remember this being a problem on my truck. I had about a foot under the hood?

Suck it up boys. Get under there and crimp those suckers. If it's good enough for F1 and trophy trucks it's good enough for you. No need to solder.

If you trace them up a little and cut the tape you can release some extra slack. (Inches, not feet.)

Get the solder butt connectors. You heat them up and the solder melts and then heat shrinks. it works really well.

The funny thing is back in the Gen 1 days, you had to connect the wires under the dash to send power under the hood. The scars and blood were a badge of honor. :D

I feel validated. Thank you.

Took a while to find them, then once found, were a bitch to access. How hard would it be to leave an extra 9" of wire?

I am going to trace them back as best I can to see if there is a loop or tape that is holding them still. Did you guys get at them from the fuse box/ underneath or go in and grab them from behind the glove box?
