Hey guys. I’m looking at possibly picking up a gen 2 (currently driving a gen1) in the next few months. My question for you guys, is it worth it to get a brand new 2019 or save some money and find a low mileage 2018? I like the new car thing but would also like to save 10k and get a used one. Is the live link suspension worth it or anything else worth it on the 2019s

Depends. As some one who went from the 17 to a 19 is the suspension alone worth it? It is most definitely improved but I wouldn’t save the 17 was a slouch either. I feel the difference most on cornering.

Now if you are looking at the new interior with recaros I would say yes definitely. If not, an 18 will do what you want it t

Had my 18 for 6 months, then went to Raptor Assault and drove a 19 for a day. There is nothing a 19 can do, and 18 wouldn't do just as well.

Trail Crawl control was cool, but I didn't use it and had no problem keeping up with the other trucks.

Live valve shocks were cool in concept, but me as the driver. i never knew the difference. Don't miss them at all on my 18.

So my vote is to save some cash and get an 18 if you can.

For 2019, Ford built in a few data points to read out engine values (i think there are 9 diff data points). For example, you can see real time engine oil temp, trans temp, boost, ect. I had a thread where I had pics and now I can't find it. I will post some pics tomorrow. Very cool feature in that performance truck like the Raptor needs. I am not sure why Ford makes no mention of this.

Also, for 2019 the adaptive cruise control will keep x -distance away from traffic and slow and down and speed up (stop and go) without any input from the driver.

what are these

If you consider upgrading go with the 18 and save some cash for future upgrades, if you do not consider upgrading invest in the 19 as it will have a better resale value.

My brother just picked up a 2019 and I have a 17 but you can find a used 17 for 10-20k under depends on what you plan on using the truck for...these truck hold their value but a lot of used 17 and 18 are cheaper and already have some upgrades
