I hate all this gen1 vs. gen2 stuff, but let's at least be honest about it. The Fuse 27 issue is a $20 fix. Leadframe is covered by Ford, and I've never even heard about the defroster issue. Regardless, these are all minor issues that nearly every vehicle make will have over its lifetime. I'll take those issues all day long over a cam phaser issue, being a former 04-08 5.4 owner.
...and the cam phaser issues aren't as widespread as the Gen2 haters make it seem.

Being on different automotive forums for nearly 20 years now, I know how groupthink can take an isolated issue and blow it up artificially. For example - F80 M3 owners are ******** their collective pants right now over spun crank hubs that literally happen in 1 in 1000 cars, going so far as to install unproven "fixes" that cost thousands of dollars as a "preventative" measure.

Be careful not to lose your perspective folks! Generally speaking, the sky is not falling.

I’m not sure what to think of this new rivian. Any opinions here?

IMO, it'll be a badass starbucks-mobile and looks like it'll be ok for doing mild, slow offroad stuff. Will make a great DD. My trucks have three or four objectives: pull big loads long distances, raptoring (proper medium speed desert running), DD, road trips to places where i can raptor or otherwise camp, kayak, MTB, and do outdoorsy stuff. The Rivan will excel for DDing and be decent for kayaking & MTB transport, but it can't desert run, and can't do what my dirtymax does. For now, no place in my garage for it, but if they put a proper raptor equivalent suspension under it, I'd give one a very serious look. The remaining issue is I'd have to get over the range as I like road tripping my rap.

For a lot of raptor guys, depending on the price, it's going to be a compelling option.

The only hotel that I've seen across Baja with a legit charging station was at a little joint in the middle of nowhere near Guerrero *****. I'm sure there is something in ensenada and probably Rosarito, but I'd be packing a big ass generator in the bed if I was trying to take one on any serious off road trips.

I'd be tempted to dump money into a v8 raptor if they offer it. Only thing that bugs me about the raptor is the v6. I truly think it's the sound more than my ego, but who knows.
