I swear I searched and didn't find anything. I am surprised this hasn't been discussed yet.

Can the new magnetic/electronic shocks from 2019s be retrofitted into 2017s?

Please skip all the obvious responses such as "it has a computer / wiring, buy a 2019, etc." I am perfectly happy with my 2017 suspension, but its time to replace the fronts. Wondering if its worth trying to source 2019 take-offs versus 2017 take-offs.

Thanks in advance,

Would probably be cheaper to trade the truck in than do a retrofit. My guess is the BCM and or the ECU would need to be swapped and a whole lot of modules and wiring installed. Simple answer is no.

It was confirmed by Mike Levine at Ford that the 19 shocks aren’t backwards compatible. Even if you got all of the addition hardware required it wouldn’t work with anything from a 17 or 18 in terms of hardware and/or coding. You’d have to redo your entire truck.

I always wondered if Shelby stuck w/ the Live shocks on their 19's not because they're better, but because they had to. They upgraded them on 17/18s at least....
