I agree $600 is a bit much...next best option would to be add a second after market camera setup. I know Costco had one for like $125.
I have the Lockpick, so it does more than just enable the front camera...enables front or rear camera anytime you want, nice when towing and just want to check on things while driving. Then allows DVD's to run anytime, I've never used it. Also allows you to other settings that previously had to be in park.
Personally even in off road mode the factory camera screen location is not the best, it would be better to have a small secondary screen in the upper left on the dash, that way one could still look ahead while looking at the screen...it's just odd to look down to see ahead.
Big picture wise your better off getting a lockpick or going to a secondary setup. By the time you add the added wear a tear on components and tires from going into lockers/4 Lo while turning on pavement just to enable the factory camera....
2017 Raptor at least got the camera to a much more acceptable use, just push the button, along with more view angles!
