I drove my new 2019 Raptor tonight about 8.30 pm when the sun was on the horizon shinning in. I instantly saw a streak down the driver side A-pillar area in the glass. It turns out this is the lamination or something showing thru from the inside layers of the glass. In normal light and 90% of the daylight hours you cannot even see it, but when the sun hits the windshield right it looks like it is completely smudged.

See the attached pic, its hard to get a good picture, but you can see the fussy area where the streakiness is. I am assuming Ford will replace the windshield under warranty but I am very fearful of them scratching or messing up the truck in the process, especially with all the electronics in and on the windshield.

Has anyone else seen defects like this in the lamination of the windshield glass?

My 2003 F-150 had a similar issue but it was only a 1" area and not down the entire windshield. They replaced that windshield 2 times under warranty.Glass streak.jpg

OP, see if you can take some compound to it and hopefully that fixes it. I personally wouldn't want a dealer taking apart my brand new truck.

Yep I had already tried that, the issue is inside the glass, so no amount of cleaning/buffing will help. It is extremely annoying, but I fear what the dealer will mess up.

Sounds like Ford outsources window replacements to Safelite. I know someone there so would feel safer having them do it anyway, and they would do it in my Garage.

I've seen all kinds of issues with Ford windshields. We had an Escape that had some type of criss cross type pattern throughout the windshield- it was likely in the laminate between the glass pieces. We also have an Edge with glass that is wavy as all get out and will need replacing. The dealer will need to get a good picture of it and get Ford to approve the replacement. They'll bring in a glass company and have it done at the dealer. They probably won't scratch it, but you never really know what they will **** up. Only you can decide if replacing the windshield is worth letting some glass guy have at it with your truck.
