Just an update. I've been logging the truck everyday and going thru hours of data, doing some trending analysis. I've tried 4 types of oil in the trucks and 2 types of spark plugs. When I get my data assembled I'll be sure to post it up here.

Also, if any of you are looking at adding some more power, ethanol blending is where its at!! Getting back on the dyno again here in the next couple weeks

Have you tried Pennzoil Platinum oil as it's the only oil FordTechMakuloco on YouTube recommends for the 3.5L Turbo engine and he really knows Fords.

I have not. I’m currently running Castrol edge dexos gen 2.

Might give that a try next

Differences are likely because of the different dynos. Hard to compare dyno against dyno. What’s also more important to compare is actual gains over the baseline pull. The truck above gained a TRUE 117whp over his baseline of 344whp.

“Auto octane” is no more then a safety measure that is built into the ecu by Ford. I don’t like using the word auto octane because that means the truck has to knock (detonate, pull timing) bad enough for the “auto octane” adjustment to kick in. It should not be used as a ‘one tune fits all octanes’ type thing. I would never advise a customer to run 91oct or lower on my 93oct map. I dial each and every truck in for their own local fuel.

Thanks for the feedback and your right it's part of Fords fuel management system and I believe Gearhead is just utilizing their system into his tune but how it actually works I don't know.

It just seems like a pain to have to unload and reload tunes depending on what's available at your current location whilst driving.

1.) At high PSI boost what steps are taken in your tune to help combat heat.

2.) Do you sell multiple octane tunes for the Cobb AP?

Make sure you get the latest Pennzoil Platinum NOT the Ultra Platinum.

The latest Pennzoil Platinum will have deoxs gen2 on it and have a green stamp stating it's been improved specifically for modern Turbo engines.

I've watched a lot of independent YouTube videos on various oils and Pennzoil Platinum did very well and did better then most when compared to other oils in high heat applications and poured almost matching Amsoil when frozen.

It’s utilized in my tune as well, I just don’t recommend leaning on that as an octane adjustment for a high output turbo motor. Things can get ugly quick.

Heat is going to be present so I lower boost when charge temps start to get too high. The stock Front Mount Intercooler gets heat saturated very quickly so lowering boost is a must, especially at higher rpms. Once a proper Front Mount Intercooler is fitted then it’s a different story.

I do! And I’d recommend changing maps anytime you have to go to a lower octane. You can always go up in octane without changing maps (no power increase), just not down.

So just an update on Castrol oil vs motul oil and LSPI.

The feedback I'm seeing on my truck seems to be much better with Castrol, in the range of 50% better. I'm going to do spark plugs next and see if this helps any at all. I have 38,205mi on my 2018 and the stock plugs are not giving me any issues. I will swap in a new set (gapped at 0.028) and look for any changes. This is mostly for personal knowledge gain, but I'll definitely pass it on!

So tomorrow I have a pretty open schedule in the afternoon. For the first time ever I’m going to try something new: A sale!

5 slots only, tuning (stage 1 or 2) will be $225. First come first serve basis. Once the slots are filled the sale is over.

I would def be interested in a tune form you my friend! I have a 19 and was about to order an AP with CAI, but if you have a deal on those with a tune, I’d love to see a break out? Also, I’m in Wa state, using 92 oct and have plans to upgrade the FMIC. Any thoughts on Mishimoto vs Injen (cost / performance ratio)? I just do not want to cut my new raptor Thanks in advance!
