Shippers do a full inspection of the vehicle prior to loading it and it is signed by the party initially in possession of the vehicle. I've had multiple vehicles shipped to and from with no problems.

That's good to hear...For me the road trip was worth it...

I just purchased my first new Raptor from Indiana and will need to arrange to have a auto carrier pick it up at the dealership and deliver to me in So. California. Does anyone have any auto carrier recommendations and whether they shipped their truck in an open or enclosed carrier? Any help would be appreciated.

I spent almost a month researching shippers and all the horror stories....made mistake of requesting a quote online...big mistake...most of the numbers you call are just clearing houses who pass info on to alot of gypsie drivers..and your inbox and cel get flooded with offers...I would NOT go with anyone that has not been recommended on this site to start.......
Also...you do NOT need enclosed unless its your choice (and way more expensive)...AND...you dont need a "special trailer" as most tell you....
I had mine shipped this past Jan. from Co. to Seattle area and it cost $900...Would of just flown in and drove it the 1000 miles, but since I'd never owned or driven a Raptor didnt want to chance all the icy Mt. passes.
I was lucky to find a SMALL family run business in ID. where you can actually talk to someone who knows what they are talking about and the driver.....would not even consider anyone else if there is a next time.....
Oh...and all shippers that are legit will do a full inspection at pick-up and at delivery...just like when you rent a car...they do a walk-around and note ANY damage/chips/etc...
Good luck..!!2014-RAPTOR-DELIVERY-2.jpg

Vehicle shipping is the absolute worst thing about the industry. Had so many issues getting mine from Ohio to Texas. Granted it was right after Harvey but it was a bunch of shippers sending me in circles and being very hard to get in touch with. If you can, I'd fly over and make a road trip out of it.

Shipped from Missouri to AZ on open transport 1290 miles. Should cost you 1k or less and contrary to what some carriers will tell you it does not require special wide accommodations and/or up charge. I used shipyourcarnow because I was impatient and paid $300 extra broker fee. Be patient as part of the process is a truck traveling the similar route and you can get the best price this way. I learned a lot and know better now. Here is mine on normal open transport. Included are a couple that were at 1k.

I would fly in to pick it up. Make your offer contingent on final inspection at pickup "subject to inspection"... I flew up to Reno to pickup my wife's new Toyota Highlander. Got there at 9 a.m.. Salesman picked me up at Airport. Done by 10 a.m.. Inspected, Drove It, Signed papers then left. Got home to Las Vegas at 4 p.m. Fun drive too. 2 lanes through the middle of nowhere, NO TRAFFIC! Total cost = $89 on SWA plus 2 tanks of gas. $200 plus 1 Saturday travel.

I would not trust a Shipper to inspect your new vehicle. And if it arrives damaged, finger pointing will start. And even if shipping it you should definetly go there in person to inspect the vehicle before handing over the money.

My 2 cents worth...

Aloha, HT

Think about it....We (had a friend along) hopped on a flight, had 2 quick cocktails, and dealer picked us up... 20 minute pleasant drive to dealership, and 45 minutes later we are headed home!....No traffic on the way home...in a brand new Raptor....An epic road trip for sure!...

Bought mine in San Antonio and drove it home to Colorado. Best part was the border patrol pull off in New Mexico. the agents loved the truck, going over it and asking a bunch of questions while the line backed up behind me. Fun drive for sure.
