I want to love my new truck, but still havent "connected" with it.

rrrrrufff ruff ruff the little grouchy chihuahua comes back again to bark at me. Seriously move along little man. This is for folks who might of had similar buyers remorse and have something constructive to say. It also strayed into interesting perspectives of the rotary shifter. Either way everyone is having a mature adult discussion and you are ******** on it with contempt.

So why not post on one of the multiple “buyers remorse” threads? Little man—what is this, fifth grade? You keep deflecting with your playground insults instead of answering the question—what do you hope to gain from your post? A shoulder to cry on? You obviously failed to research the Gen II Raptor before stopping $70k on one. If you spent as much time researching and test driving instead of deflecting, whining, typing, and adolescent name calling, you might have saved yourself time, money, and your self respect.

Then there’s the suspension. While it handles big bumps gracefully, its feels fluttery and unsettled over most rough roads. Seem like the back end is not in good coordination with the front. I will give it credit though for minimal body roll in corners so long as the road is smooth.

The biggest letdown in my opinion is the EcoBoost. I went into it open minded but its just underwhelming for this type of truck. Gas mileage is only a slight improvement over my old truck and now I’m using premium gas. It makes decent power but has to build up to it…performance does suffer badly in Texas’ climate too. What kinda truck puts out 510 lb-ft of torque and can’t even smoke the tires? My old V8 powered truck had significantly less power but felt lighter on its feet and more responsive.

Suspension issues are easily solved with Deaver's and bump stops. $600 for an MPT tune will really wake up the engine. I live in Houston and have no issues with the responsiveness or smoking my 37s all day long.

I researched the Gen 2 for months before pulling the trigger. I knew its shortcoming and how to solve them BEFORE I dropped $70K on it. It is by far the best truck I have ever owned. (Fords, Chevys, Dodge and Gen 1)

I find your post interesting...I had a 2004 Titan 2wd until I bought my 2018 Raptor. I guess the first question to you would be "What did you expect?"....

The RAM's interior for 2019 is better, but that make doesn't the Raptors interior suck all of sudden
Not sure if you understand how the drive modes actually work...You can twist the final drive knob to 4WD High, but that won't re-calibrate the ABS & Traction control like using the "Mud/Sand" for example...Sport mode isn't meant for racing to 35 mph and just try to cruise at speed until the next red light, it was meant for track like conditions to let the Raptor run it's legs out...

You don't seem to be happy with the suspension, and I'll give it to you that the factory setting may not be to your liking, but why in the world would anyone (this time me) have to ask you to compare the trucks off road desert running with ANY other truck off the dealers lot..remember I had a 2wd Titan SE set up for light pre-running so I'm very intimate with how the Titan does off road...

There isn't another factory truck that comes close!...When you trade in your Raptor for the Rebel, please join one of the Raptor off road groups and see how that Rebel will do all day off roading at a pretty good clip...The Rebel is NOT a bad truck, but if you aren't happy with the Raptor's suspension, why would think there is another truck out there that will make you happy....

You are not happy with the shift logic, because that happens all the time to many trucks and there is a simple remedy...shift it your self!..I hit the desert and my shifter goes to Manual...Have you read were the shift logic gets better as it learns your shift/throttle settings?...The 10 spd seems to shift a lot?....a 10 will shift more then a 8 spd, the 8 spd will shift more then a 6 spd, and so on...

Really liked my Titan, but fell in love with the Raptor in no time..it's not a perfect truck, there isn't a perfect truck made anywhere...


Know what?...it just hit me, do you take the truck off roading, because if not then I owe you a apology.

Look dude. I'm raised old school military and have no problem respecting people but do not put up with rudeness. You rubbed me the wrong way right off the bat with your Shut Up or **** attitude basically calling me a bitch. Maybe I shouldn't jump to conclusions that you have little man complex because truly I don't know you. I do know that internet forums (especially this one) tend to have schoolyard atmosphere when someone goes against the collective mindset; and I have no problem pushing back. Of ALL the other posts YOURS was rude and my initial reply to you should have been your indicator that I'm not having it. So don't start playing victim like I'm the aggressor. What's said is said. Get over it. Maybe we will get along on the next thread.

My point has already been made clear and a few good responses were made. I just want to share my ownership thoughts and concerns, in a respectful way (so much for that) where perhaps others can offer perspective that maybe I hadn't realized...Or if anyone else has similar thoughts it would be neat to hear about. I also am well aware that I'm not obligated to keep my Raptor; but I do want it to work out for me.

Thanks. Maybe things will settle in with a few more miles. No complaint with me on the interior. Its LUXURY by my standards. Not comparing against this truck in its intended element but in my realistic element. Off road cant be beat by another factory truck in this size category period. But its true that the ride is fluttery over pavement and hard dirt...nothing I cant live with but just rougher than I expected. Now the whole back end swinging out over bumps shouldn't be happening. I'm hoping with time the shocks will loosen up a little and the shift logic will adapt to me.
Although I live and work in Houston I do leave the pavement quite often due to secluded beach trips, hunting, camping, and such. I have a spot deep in the national forest where I keep my long rang shooting skills sharp...its only accessible with 4wd for most of the year. Locking differential was a must for my next truck.

Bummer you didn't make a love connection. Never owned a titan, but from what I've read it's the worst truck available.

All kidding aside, I have also read that the 19 suspension is tighter/harsher than previous years. I would lower my tire pressure down from 36, several psi and see if that makes a difference. I would think anything over 30 would be fine on the street, naturally you should go much lower when off the pavement.

The motor may seem sleepy, but go out and mat the pedal every now and then, I have no complaints. Shirley, it is way faster and probably gets better mpg than a titan. Another thing, the tires on these trucks don't seem to make much noise when they are spinning on the asphalt from a dead stop, but they will sure leave some silent black tracks on the road.

Interesting. I'll drop air pressure a little more. Lots of people hate on the Titan. I cant. Must have got one that was put together right. Zero problems until just about the 200k mark. I am mechanically inclined and could have fixed it but wanted a new ride. The intention was keep Titan and get another muscle car but the wife steered me to a new truck that we'd get more use out of.

Not doubting the Raptor has power. When the turbos spool it pulls hard. I just don't feel it pulling strong till the very upper RPMs. Not a bad thing for some folks...just not what I'm used to. And the exhaust note...well I went into it with an open mind.

4mpg better than Titan in the city; but now I'm using premium gas. On the highway it does about 17mpg . I wont get hung up on gas mileage though. I don't normally buy efficient cars anyways. Titan had level and 33" Mud Grapplers BTW
