Just got my truck back today... Replaced intake and exhaust phasers as well as the cam chain tensioner on bank 2 (driver’s side). In fact, unless I’m reading it wrong, they replaced both cams on the driver’s side.

I’ll post complete parts list if anyone needs it, but it appears my engine was only the one bank.

Regardless, great to have it back...had a new Ranger as a loaner (think three of my friends/neighbors want to buy one now LOL), and it was fun to drive...and fit in the garage better...but hitting the two sets of railroad tracks at speed on the back road drive home from work today reminded me why I love this truck!

That’s great news. I hope you get many miles and no more issues.

So is your truck no longer making the noise?

Texted the service manager about my wife's 2018 Lariat with the 3.5 EB and as I suspected the phasers are bad. I was told parts are ordered and it should be in after july 4th. I don't understand why some folks were told parts are on back order until August? I guess I will find out soon enough if my parts come in the near future or not

I was given the parts that were ordered. See below.

Has it been said what the noise is when these phasers fail? Is it the chain slapping around or something else?

Bought a used '17 CPO SCAB, 25K build date was 12/16 ... Didn't notice right away . Was about

2 weeks in when it took my attention...

Found this Forum , & learned about the issue...

Going to leave it for now , don't keep my vehicles too long , 2 years or less...

Will , trade it for a 2020 in due time... maybe Ford will have it sorted by then, LOL...

Really don't want open heart surgery on my engine , with some parts (phasers) still not readily

avalible from Ford, OMMV... From what I've been reading folks are without their vehicles for

several weeks , some longer... Haven't made any issue about the problem to the stealership ...

Will just trade it & be done...
