It is incredible how much time people spend on this forum speculating about crap they cant control. What if I get a ticking sound from the cam phasers and my motor falls out the bottom of my truck and ford wont replace anything because I have a pedal commander? What if ford comes out with a quad turbo v12 hybrid battery powered 6x6 raptor? What if my transmission/transfercase/motor/backup camera/wtfcares has issues? What if Ram makes a competitive truck?

I have one for you.

What if you just went out and enjoyed your truck rather than sit in front of your computer spreading or creating rumors and/or being worried about something that may or may not happen that you have zero control over? You'll probably enjoy your rig a lot more if you just go use it instead of trollollolling along on the forums.

All things equal the naturally asperated V8 at the altitude of my front door would be atleast 90BHP less.
No Thanks, I will keep the Turbos.

Costs be damned...

The only reason I wish they would finally come out with it, is to let those who want it, buy it, and stop posting threads like this.
RAM Rebel TRX and the RAM TRX (hellcat) is coming. My guess is Ford will answer their hp with hp.

While there are plenty of posts from people that can’t wait for a V-8, wish they had a V-8, want the sound of a V-8 etc., I must be in the total minority. I wanted a Raptor since the first day they were released, but I could never justify driving a truck that gets somewhere around 11 miles per gallon. I drive 15 to 20,000 miles a year and that certainly adds up. It is a totally different story for people that don’t use their truck as a daily driver. I for one am thrilled with my truck and very thankful that Ford was able to deliver performance, reliability, and acceptable fuel economy. For the rest of you, I hope Ford delivers the V8 that you guys all want.

you're not in the minority, I wanted a Raptor since the day Ford teased us with one back in 09. but once I seen Matt Farrah drive SDHQs Eco Raptor I was sold on an EB in a Raptor body. when I finally got my hands on a 13 EB then a 17 EB Raptor I was sold on the platform... till cam phaser and timing chains started causing problems. I had enough of the constant warranty claims and being without a truck that I opted to sell the 17 Raptor and replace it with a Gen 1.

This thread gives me a headache. It's not that complicated, economics 101 supply and demand. Here is a couple scenarios of what could happen.

1. Ford makes a low production V8 raptor in 2021. Prices for those will be top dollar, but since it will be a low production truck, won't effect the V6 Gen2 much if anything. V6 raptor still an awesome truck for 99% of people and will depreciate at its current rate it is now.

2. Ford makes a high production V8 Raptor. Probably about 1/4-maybe 1/2 tops, of current raptor owners trade in their current truck whether its a Gen1 or Gen2 for new V8 model. Prices depreciate slightly more than they are currently but not much. Gen 2 V6 still an awesome truck that many people would want used.

3. Ford doesn't make a V8 Gen2 ( which is 99% most likely going to happen). They keep the V6 in their Gen 3 Raptor. Current Gen 2s depreciate like normal and life goes on.

People forget these are toys, nobody buys a raptor because its practical. If you want a car that will not depreciate much no matter what new models come out and is practical, go buy a honda or kia or something. You buy a raptor because its a bad ass toy, and news flash, toys go down in value because everybody wants the newest, baddest toy. You want to talk about depreciation? My Mclaren 570s brand new sticker price was $228k, I picked it up 3 months after it was delivered as a demo car with 1,000 miles on it. Picked it up from the dealer for $180k. Thats $48k depreciation after 3 months and 1,000 miles. Still comes with all the perks of a new car and warranty and everything.

So to sum up my thoughts, regardless of what happens if Ford makes a new V8 model or not, your Gen2's value will be fine. Its a bad ass truck that is VERY desirable on the used market that almost everybody would want no matter what happens. End of story.

My truck is not a toy, I bought it because it is practical lol

Your v6 truck sounds like a lawnmower and it really doesn’t get much better gas mileage. If at all.

Trucks aren’t fast anyway. Who cares about 0-60 in a pickup?

The whole reason this thread exists is because dudes with v6 turbos are worried no one will want their trucks if Ford drops a real engine in the new model. Their insecurities are justified.

People won’t trade in just for sound. Gen 3 v8 will be an all around better truck. Still, it’ll be a huge relief they no longer have to accept the v6 compromise no one ever wanted in the first place.

I’ve had my trolling fun for a while. It’s too easy and people are so sensitive about their little engine.

There’s no replacement for... you know the rest.
By your logic since 0-60 times don’t matter then the overall HP and TQ of the engine don’t matter. They can put just the base 5.0L and be good, you know since power does not matter.
