ISSUES TO RESOLVE——

There are a few lingering issue I’m going to work with support on:

Hvac controls don’t remember settings. What sucks is that it reverts to 30f on the drivers side on startup...so every time I get into the car I’ve got to arrow up to the right temp.

Remote start does not power up the system or activate hvac. This I miss.

Gaia gps app kills music

Somehow, I thought I could get sync2 or sync3 working through the head unit. This is not well documented.

The internal mic sucks. Supposedly they fixed this in the newest rev unit...

so it sounds like the way to go.. :waytogo:

Editing this post. It would be a dis-service to the community for me to recommend this unit. It is poorly engineered:

--Much more focus needs to go into Quality control of the HVAC elements.
--There is bloatware in the software build
--Support is shaky at best
--Worst problem: it could cause damage to your truck.

I've requested to edit the first post from the admins to save the community the same headaches I'm going through with this device. Looks like edit rights are gone for the first post. Hopefully folks make it to this point in the thread and heed my advice to AVOID THIS RADIO!

I’m having issues with hvac controls and am sending this unit back. I hear clicking in the dash like it is trying to move vent controls beyond their thresholds. I reset to ford low and it fixes the issue but I loose seat cooling. Hopefully no Permiant damage has been done.

I cannot recommend this unit for the gen1 raptor.

SECURITY—-

One thing to consider is security of the device. Being an IT engineer...
I am in the infosec space as well. Another reason I did not opt for an Android unit ;)

If you would not mind pointing me in the right direction or sending me your sources I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

This thread has been the most succinct since information is spread across multiple forums and posts. I sourced everything from eBay. The only things I did differently are that I went with a 2016+ F-150 antenna and splitter. It carries both GPS/Sirius signal and is an exact replacement. I was not confident in the coiled up mess under the dash. Also, don't look for screens for an F-150 or Raptor they will be $$$$. Instead, look for a Taurus or Flex. For whatever reason, they are $2-300 cheaper.

If you do not want to do the coding yourself there is a guy on eBay who sells the APIMs already coded to your VIN. Being the engineer that I am I knew this was something I could tackle once I started fiddling around with it. Good luck! Still love my SYNC 3 has been ver reliable.

I got my RA for the Phoenix return. It is on its way back.

Replaced the servo for defrost actuator (luckily it was easy to get to) and the hvac is click free now and I’m done with android radios.
