Get the 1.5" rear block from Readylift or ProComp. Both are cast iron and set the pinion angle. I've been running the ProComp block for 35K miles and love it. Big difference between the block and a lowering shackle is the loss of compression travel before the bump stop engages when going with shackles. I know there are a few older threads with plenty more info!

Can you explain what the loss of compression travel means?

Not sure I'm understanding the argument of losing bump travel with shackles compared to lowering blocks. You'll lose bump travel from ride height using any method to lower the rear. I was under the impression that the bump strike pad is in the factory location on the aftermarket lowering blocks with the blocks being shorter on the axle side.



I agree with LekRap, mid perch and a 1" lowering shackle is probably gonna be best for what you're going for.

Just a quick update to share. I took a long-ish trip and wasn't happy with the ride of my truck. So I took off the 1" drop shackles that I had on...the truck rides night and day better with the stock shackles.

I have tried everything possible to slightly lower the rear of the truck. I tried the smaller blocks (when I still had stock leafs), I tried all different combos and heights of shackles, I tried de-arching my Deavers, I even tried putting sand bags in my bed. After everything is said and done...don't lower the rear height. It ALWAYS rides like shit. Seriously, putting weight in the bed with a stock height setup is the only way to lower the rear without messing up the ride.

Best thing you can do to help give you a more level look...get aftermarket fenders like Boatecs. The 2" rise helps give the illusion that the front is taller. That way, you keep a good ride and still have that level or even nose high look.

You still have the same thoughts? I was forced to buy +3 Deavers due to no longer making the +2HD. I also purchased the drop shackle as I didnt want to be ass high. Everything will come in later this week so no experience, only what I read on here.

I would be worried about dropping it, then adding that much weight in the rear. seems like a bad combo to gain an inch lower. I cant imagine that one inch lower is going to be that much easier to load or unload a motorcycle. but as others have said, it will start adversely effecting the ride.

now, I have a 2" drop shackle (only drops and inch, but is 2" longer than stock), but on Icon springs. so its about stock ride height. actually it looks and rides really good with geisers on low perch in the front
