Im content with my truck as it is today. I don't worry about future depreciation that may or may not happen if Ford changes something in a future model year.

Don’t think this is the end all of the 2020 line-up. There is no mention on that guide the GT500 or Bronco. Ford has already officially announced these will be in the 2020 line-up but where are they? I do not see a V8 in the GEN2 for 2020 personally and if they did throw it in there to make a special edition like they did on the GEN1’s, it would be the last year if the suit follows. But the GEN1 SE was only an appearance package, not performance so still finding it extremely unlikely that Ford would put in a different engine. GEN3 maybe but that’s a long shot and definitely not worth talking about.

Has anyone else considered the fact that the Raptor is a very good selling vehicle for Ford, its a lucrative vehicle too w/ the lofty MSRP. Sure they could sell a "super raptor" V8 w/ crazy HP for more $$$$ but how much more MARGIN relative to a HO3.5 Raptor? Not sure it would pad their wallets much more after factoring in the cost of R&D on the new engine to offset, it would probably have to be @ least $20k more to make any sense. And IMHO Ford would probably like to sell 10k $65k raptors than 3k $85k Raptors - not to mention, there are still CAFE standards in place, and there are people (like myself) who DD the Raptor all the time - while I can swallow low gas mileage in a Truck, I think a blown V8 in this truck would be an unreal gas guzzler - probably worse than a gen1 & that would dissuade some buyers regardless of the price premium + it would put a dent in Ford's overall mpg average especially if it were to be the ONLY Raptor version available. You take a vehicle that's already not super practical & make it even more so. You'll be getting worse mileage than a diesel w/ 1/4 the capability (payload/tow wise) & @ the same price point & then some. It'd be like a Ford GT really, like a halo type vehicle if it ever does get made.

Fairly convinced at this point we won't see a V8 Raptor in this bodystyle if ever.

Not sure why all the desire anyhow, I went to the Raptor to try something different & get AWAY from a traditional V8......especially when (hope this doesn't offend the Ford fanboys) I would place Ford's V8 engines somewhere in the lower tier of competitors like Toyota/Hyundai/Nissan.......GM & Dodge V8>>>>>>>>>> all day long & been that way for a long time. The 5.0 coyote motor was their best attempt in a LONG time even so from a quality/reliability/durability standpoint it sure as shit aint no LS1

I am quite pleased with my "little" 3.5HO Raptor, plenty of horses and torque, with fair (if it matters) mileage. So not really a v-8 fanboi, but not opposed to the idea, either.

I thought that in late March / early April the fact a limited edition Raptor would be coming from Ford, in late 2020 / early 2021, with a V-8 had been very close to confirmed? As in, a well placed Ford source had leaked the fact to several major motoring web sites.

This was not to be the 7.3 Super Duty motor, but a limited number production, from Ford, with the GT500 motor. Kind of a halo halo vehicle.

If true this would put a V-8 in the current body style for the last year or so of this body style.

Thanks, was reading “available in 2020”.

I would take a forced induction any day over a naturally aspirated motor with equivalent HP if they have the same reliability. On a Ford turbo engine, that’s a big if.

NA engines get pretty gutless at high altitudes

110k and still going strong.
