Do you think this Nav TV A2B (B&O) interface will ever come down in price or will there be any competition any time soon? That's basically 25% of the budget. I am at a complete stop just because I am not willing to drop that $500 on that. I guess I will be stuck with the B&O crappy system for a while.

Why are you building your own box? To save money? Or do you feel existing offerings lack in some way?

I desperately want to upgrade my stereo and sub, but I can't sacrifice the floor space.

While I dont have his install skills, its fun to build your own box. I did a stealth rack & dual sub box combo under my rear seat and it was a lot of fun to build and it doesnt draw attention to itself. Looking forward to some pics

Good luck goblues. I have a similar background in a similar time frame (90s). I just did my '17 raptor. Stillwater 10s in a custom box, a few JL audio amps (JX 1000 for the subs and xd-800 for the rears, fronts, tweets, and center) , JL Twk D8 DSP, and a PAC Audio optical converter to get low level out of the head unit. I went with AudioFrog 6x9s up front and AF tweeters, and Morel Tempo Ultra 602s in back. I deadened the doors really well and overall it sounds great. I rewired everything with 14 guage, and man was it a bitch getting in the front doors. Let me know if you get stuck in anything. I have lots of pics..

I decided to wire 12 gauge to the doors on my '19. No luck getting through the molex, ended up taking off the doors and adding a small hole with grommet below the molex. 10/10 would do again.

I considered doing the JL stealth box...but $1300 was just to steep. I am in for $500 for 2 subs and the box....even with doing it twice.

1st 3 posts updated and edited.

So as I said....my amazon delivery did not come in. But I got installed what I could. I need 3 1 foot RCA's, no place local had anything smaller then 6footers...which I already had. I have everything playing right now. but it is a mess back there. 3 6 foot rcas will be replaced with correct size, and I will then use that time to clean up the wire.

The sub box hits hard. I am a classic rock and Sirius first wave kind of music guy. but I broke out a madonna dance remix cd from the late 80's...it sounds great...even with the stock 6x9's in the door.

Can't wait to get my doors finished tomorrow hopefully, then spend time dialing everything in.

There is zero noise, the NAV-TV A2B is an awesome piece of kit. Wirth every penny. so awesome to have a straight digital signal get converted to RCA without having to step down any voltage. My 12 year old daughter was sitting in the back and I put on some old school rap, and she screamed and jumped. I don't listen to that, but nice to know I can.

I will post more updates in a day or two as I try and finish things up.

Took me about 5 hours to build the box.
4 hours to run the wires and solder the harness.
3 hours to mount the amp and get things powered up.
another 4 hours and I won't have to touch it again.

So glad I did this. Let me know if you have any questions.

it came down from $900 to $549. It is worth every penny. getting a clean digital signal out of a factory head unit was the holy grail of installers way back in my day.
