Looking for some options for replacing the front struts. Up to this point, my plan was to run gen 2 rear shocks and purchase new OEM gen 1 struts for the front. Problem with that - the OEM struts are on national backorder with no ETA according to Tasca. Is there another aftermarket option that's similar in price that would work well with gen 2 rear shocks? This truck is a weekend toy, so spending 2k+ on a shock package is not an option. Trying to keep the cost down. Reason for not rebuilding the front struts is that the shock body is worn and I want something that looks new.

Side note - why is every Ford part on national backorder constantly?

I read somewhere once that if a vehicle is currently in production, then all parts are allocated to production vehicles. Very few parts are made available for ''repair'' parts. More money to be made selling vehicles than single parts.

It sucks I know. I waited for a head gasket and high pressure fuel pump hardware for a long time for my Focus RS. No parts were available for warranty, but the factory in Germany didn't miss a beat banging out new vehicles.

Gen 1 Fox shocks haven't been used in production vehicles since 2014 model year. Fox must be backed up, that's the only thing I can think of.

I have been installing Gen2 on my 2011 Gen1, bought all 4 "new take off " for 600 bucks. the rears went on without a hitch, fronts, you must remove the larger springs and use original smaller diameter spring to clear strut tower. Also I decided to replace all the brakes used Brake Motive and they all fit great, Just got RPG adjustable height shock collars for the front, fit perfect, look great. call if you need more info, Scott 562-619-4016

Look on eBay for them. Also you tube shows how to install the gen 2 fronts on a gen 1. You can also purchase gen 2 rear shocks on eBay for $450 a set. They are new removed from new 18 raptor so they only have like 50 miles on them. I got a set of rears had them raptor lined and they fit perfectly in place of the gen 1s. Hope this helps
