While codeveloped w/ Ford this is basically a GM tranny, GM has much more experience building their own in-house auto transmissions from scratch. GM trannies typically have a 100k lifespan on factory fluid- “extreme” use would recommend like a 50k change & if you do two several times a year or plow or stuff like that changing it by 75k ain’t a bad idea either. Anything before 50k is unnecessary for sure unless you have a problem.

I’ll probably do it between 60-75k personally, the diffs/transfer case like 35-50k miles.

Will probably stick w/ stock tranny fluid but will use amsoil for diff/TC

My 95 Silverado did, 125k actually. Shifted great until the flush, it has never shifted smoothly since.

Take it from an industry insider - dealerships promote transmission flushes to increase revenue. Follow the manufacturer’s schedule, NOT what your dealership suggests. They make a ton of money on unnecessary and not infrequently, damaging “flushes”

Can't find a U-tube vid on changing the 10r80 tranny fluid.
I've used the dilution method before on other vehicles...drain/suck tranny oil out, replace, repeat a week/day later, repeat, repeat.
Anyone else use the dilution method on the Gen 2 Raptor?

edit: Oops! ... I just now noticed the Gen2 thread category. Anyway, here's some gen1 info for anyone who maybe owns both. :)

My '11 is at 88K and never been changed (AFAIK). First step is to install a proper dipstick and get rid of the stupid lil' stubby hand-roaster. I recommend the kit from Performance Automatic as it mounts easily without any additional fab work:

Next will be a fluid & filter change, using this guy's video as a guide:

No it didn’t. What you experienced was you waited too long and the only thing holding it together was the clutch material that was suspended in the fluid. Change it before it gets so dirty that it’s wearing out your clutches and it would’ve lasted longer.

No, flushes are terrible, and you shouldn't do them. Drain and fills are fine, and what I had intended to do, but let the tech talk me in to it.

I got the truck at 100k, so it wasn't my negligence. But my dad's bronco went about the same mileage on the fluid, and the transmission made it to about 230k before my sisters terrible driving chipped a tooth. Considering my brother now has 215k on the Silverado and its transmission, it clearly is working fine. Most likely the slightly different viscosity doesn't play well with the solenoid, but regardless the clutch is fine.

You guys arguing the fluid can't go that long are the same saying 10k oil changes are too long, even when I've got two analyses telling me I can go 12k on blended synthetic.

Never in my life would I wait unitl 10k to change my oil, especially not with blended synthetic on a turbo charged motor

You may get new trans fluid refill if your Plastic trans pan starts leaking before 100k miles.

Also, I would be hessitant to have a Ford Stealership do a trans oil change. Difficult to know if they really did it without going under the truck and removing the oil check plug.

I was wondering where the Trans Dip Stick is? There isnt one! I have NEVER seen that on an Automatic vehicle. More Ford Value Engineering cost savings! Theyre saving $50 a truck?
