Hey, Nick, thanks for posting this. I know I and others have been waiting for this.

Sorry to ask this question, which I'm sure has been beaten to death in other threads, but can this void the factory warranty should something happen to the engine? When you take the vehicle in for service is it easy to restore to factory settings and remove the unit itself? I'm imagining it connects to the OBD port under the dash. Thank you.

The software can be removed and returned back to stock. However, the ignition key cycles are also reset when you do this. The key cycles are also reset when the battery is disconnected for more than 15 minutes. However, if they choose to dig enough, there's always evidence.

Yes, this connects to the OBDII port under the dash. You may leave the Accessport tuner plugged in all the time, or you can choose to tune and then remove. It's up to you!

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

If you don't mind, I do have another question. Is the installation of the intercooler difficult, better left to a professional mechanic? Is that necessary to get the real gains? Does it replace the current one? Does it require draining the coolant and refilling, or does the coolant not even run through it? It looks like a radiator to me but I don't really know obviously.

Some here have said a CAI alone will do nothing but look good. Does the tune take advantage of that by allowing more air to mix with the fuel?

Thank you.

Great questions!

Regarding intercooler installation, that really depends on your individual skillset. I would not say it is a difficult installation, however, it is tedious in the number of little details that need to be done and the time that it takes.

The intercooler is the single most important hard part upgrade you can make to your truck's performance. Obviously, the tune is king. However, the OEM intercooler is lackluster and will lead to heat soak, especially in front plate states like NY where you live. The intercooler upgrade is the reason why there's a Stage 1 and then the Stage 2 ECU map. The Stage 2 ECU Map requires the upgraded intercooler.

Yes, the new intercooler replaces the current one.

No draining of coolant or anything like that. The intercooler's job is to cool the charge air used for forced induction. It sits directly in front of the radiator.

The Stage 1+ tune will take advantage of increased air flow from the cold air intake. The COBB CAI has a 167% larger filter area than stock and uses 3" mandrel bent piping for improved flow rate. That said, OEMs are pretty good at making these intakes for fuel efficiency, performance, and CAFE standards. You can run the Stage 1 ECU map without the upgraded Cold Air Intake. But, if you've been thinking about upgrading the CAI anyway, the package savings of purchasing the Stage 1+ Kit makes the COBB intake one of the least expensive intakes on the market.

Hope this answers your questions! Please let me know if any more come up!

Thanks!

Nick
