ok guys and gals- I’m coming up on my 4000 miles and oil change is around the corner...what’s the opinion on converting to mobile1 synthetic or staying the stock ford oil blend? What have you done for yours?
So, If FORD put Mobil1 in there it would be one thing, but they don’t - it’s a synthetic blend. The 1st change is supposed to be 7,500 (I think). I’m kinda old fashioned as I changed the oil & filter @1,500 miles and then every 3k thereafter. I think you’re ahead of the game using the factory recommended oil and changing it more frequently, than you are using a more expense oil that no one has proof is better, but it certainly costs more. My dealer charges me $42 for oil/filter/4-whl rotation and I’m about to have my 4th oil/filter/tire rotation at 10,500 on my 2019 - all for less than $200. This debate is pointless and could go on forever like how many spirits can dance on the head of a pin - there is no right answer. Bottom line - Do what you think is best.

Hi Guys pretty new on the forum, just did my oil change at 5k on my new 2019 I decided to go with AMS oil and I like it. I was having some issues were the truck would die when you would put the pedal to the metal and I would get a oil pressure warning on my dash board I would turn the truck up again and everything normal, I’ve read on here it’s a common issue I changed the oil and truck is running great!

Im running Mobil One full synthetic stock weight since first oil change. No issues. I m runningvthe Ford Performance Oil Filter as well. 1st oil cange at 3200 miles.

I will definetly get one of those Fumoto Valves first. The stock 1/4 yellow plastic fast flow valve makes a HUGE mess! You need a 3 foot wide catch pan to get all the oil because it all comes out in like 1 or 2 seconds - SPLATT! I had my oil change 4'x8' cardboard sheet on the garage floor and a 12 quart drain pan and oil still went everywhere, beyond the edge of the cardboard too. One big slick mess! 2 roles of paper towels and 30 minutes layer I was back on track.

Do the 2019's have a metal oil pan and drain plug? My 2017 is all plastic! Anything to boost the Ford Stock price I guess...

By the way anyone know where to get the Fumoto Raptor Oil Change Valve?

Fumoto does not yet make a valve to replace the yellow plastic oem drain plug. Raptors produced after Feb 28, 2018 all have metal drain plugs.

For the plastic plug/pans check out the Ronin plug. It's a little pricey , but looks awesome! I would like to have gone that direction, but they don't make one for the metal pans.

I just hit ten thousand miles on my 18 I did first change at four thousand I’ve been running royal purple since 2015 in my first 3.5 f150. Just did my second oil change at nine thousand. Went with the K&N filter this time but I’ll run that royal purple in anything I own with a turbo. I don’t knock mobile one. I run mobile one in all my other vehicles.

OK so everyone is a Mobil 1 fan - it's junk

I was a mechanic in NASCAR & AHDRA - the only thing they put in race machines is Redline and that's what I've run in all my vehicles for past 18 years. Full synthetic - thermal protection to 800 degrees, so only thing I'd consider with the high temps turbos produce. It's not cheap, $12 a quart, available on Amazon. They make a 5W30 compliant with Ford specs, the only other synthetic I would even consider is Royal Purple. I've used Redline lubricants (oil, MTL, Shockproof Gear Oil and grease) in diesels, Harleys, GM, and Ford products. They make premium products for almost any application. No issues with anything I've used it in.

Just my opinion - everybody has one

Something I do find interesting is Ford service intervals on oil changes.

Gen 1 Raptor 5K
Gen 2 Raptor 10k

I see from the posts people are all over the board 3k, 4k, 5k on the Gen 2.
Any commentary on service intervals?

Trust the IOLM, it is conservative excepting the exceptions in the manual. My oil analyses says the Motorcraft synthetic blend could go 12-15k (see my first post in this thread for latest sample).

ProjectFarm's oil tourney was very interesting to watch, the final was posted today:

Blackstone analysis on Rotella T6 tells that I can max out the OCI at about 6800 miles.

I’ll stick with 5000 miles since it’s easy to keep track of. I got Amsoil SS in the Raptor right now.

I might do another analysis to compare Rotella T6 and Amsoil SS.
