I guess the 2018 Raptor is different?? My Raptor doesn't have a plug like this on the back of the mirror. It has a couple of large plastic covers that need to be removed to get access to the wiring for the mirror. There are a couple of plugs under there and many wires.. just don't want to have to try to test every one of them to located a keyed hot and ground wire if possible. :/

IIRC from reading f150 forums some trucks have a cover over the back but the same plug and wiring inside. The cover is removed to access the wiring.

Got the covers off and definitely different color wires.. Anyone have any idea of which is ignition hot? There's a ground very clearly available so that will be easy.

Use a multimeter.

There is more info on this topic at f150forum.com. From what I could tell there are at least several wire configurations that have different color wires and they ended up being the first and fourth wires as in my post up thread. Note that the colors of the wires don't necessarily mean ground/hot, so, again, use a multimeter.

Buy the kit on Amazon, great instruction and a good Youtube if you look for it.

Its the white plug and the grey and yellow wires.

Really, the 2018 doesn’t have it? Do you have the 802A?

My 17 and 19 both have the exposed plug. It’s not the most attractive way to wire a mirror but does make the mirror tap easier. Still not easy though as even the different size metal tabs they give you to stick in need to be filed

Adding to the knowledge base here....For a 2019 Raptor with 802A package the mirror tap locations on the plug on the back of the mirror are Black for positive 12v and Green for ground.

That's right, the black wire is +12, not a ground.

Is there any reason I couldn't use the "mirror tap" to connect to the speaker on the dash? I'm going to mount my RD on the dash and am trying to avoid routing a wire all the way to the fuse box if I can help it.

If so, which wires do I use?

thanks!
