So i decided to tackle my sub upgrade this weekend and took my time wiring everything. Connected it all up and my amp wont turn on. My power cable is good and the inline fuse is still intact. For my ground I used ground spot on the drivers side of wall of the rear cab. There is a group of wires wrapped in green that looked like a factory ground for me. I am using aluminum screw down lug connectors For that and at the battery.

For the signal I cut the four wires going into my original b&o sub and spliced into my high level input connector for the new amp. I used this diagram for reference https://www.f150forum.com/attachments/f118/542203d1515890636-2018-stereo-wiring-diagram-b-o-4-12.pdf

Is there something I am missing. Do I still need to run a remote wire to turn this on?

It sounds like you may not have a good enough ground or signal. I grounded to what sounds like the same place and was fine until Che sub just cut out. Turned out that under load I was seeing as low as just under 9v DC. Ended up being a bad crimp on the ground cable.

Check with a multi meter
I have the Sony system which I understand is simpler to upgrade.

What amp/sub?

Thanks Smurfslayer. I am pretty certain the problem is that the amp needed a signal to turn on either through a remote wire or using a line out converter. For some reason I was thinking the high level inputs would do this. I was using the Rockford Fosgate 500 somethin or another amp. Most of the amps I am familiar with had a smart turn on feature driven by the speaker signal.

I ended up ordering the Audiocontrol ACM 1.300. I could of ordered a line out converter to solve the issue but I didnt want to deal with mounting and organizing more wires.

In the meantime I just plugged the tapped speaker wires into my new sub which is the shallow mount Pioneer. For anyone interested, there is no difference in sound. My B&O sub sounds just as good.

you need a turn on wire. the high level converter will do it if it has yellow, black and blue wires in it. if its just speaker connections only, you have to get the signal elsewhere. the passenger kick panel will have a rap wire. 2 14ga grey/blue wires i believe.
