Anyone Tried the Forged Offroad bump plate with ICON leaf spings?

Looks like it might work with the factory bump stops....


this is what i ordered and installed with my ICON RXTs last weekend. they work, but FYI there is barely what i'd consider enough of the pins/bolt heads hanging down through bump plates to sit and line up the springs with the axle mounts. i thought it'd be a better/ stronger option than just extending the factory bumps with a puck and longer bolt, but now i'm not so sure... assuming if the U bolts are what really hold the axle/springs together vs having more contact with the pins in the mounting holes???

Are you talking about the "U" bolts that attach the leaf springs to the axle pads...you need a least 1.5 threads showing...

You don't want to space the factory bump stops down, then the leaf springs will run out of compression travel sooner...

No the u bolts have plentyyyy of threads coming through, too much actually, ICON says to cut the excess off of them to 2-3 threads extra. I’m talking about the two bolt per leaf that hold the leaf packs together, the bolt head ( which are actually round) fit into/ through the forged bump plates and barely enough down into the axle mount to line them up properly, due to the thickness of the Forged bump plates. I’m sure they’re fine for normal driving. I would
Just be worried if I were out really romping on it. If the u bolts started to give in the least bit I could see the axle losing contact with the two centering pins and it being able to shift around and lose alignment .

Reading earlier about some extended shackles binding on the Icon leafs - are the Camburgs the only ones that seem to be O.K.? I’d really prefer a 2” shackle.

I ordered the same springs and got the same bump plates... and haven’t installed yes. Do you think it’s gonna be a problem or are you staying with it?

MZ, I’m no expert on the subject matter, so maybe someone else can chime in on it. The science would say it’s a stronger connection/ hold if more of the pin heads were sticking down into the axle mounting points. But is it strong enough???? For me the truck is a daily driver, if you’re going to run yours hard out in dirt like it’s made for or drive it like you stole it everywhere you go, well maybe factory bump stop extenders or welding a longer pin head onto the leaf bolts is a good idea???

Anyone else have better knowledge/ insight on the subject?

I would think Forged off-road knows what they’re doing when they designed them to be mounted in this fashion.
