how to reduce intake temps/manifold intake temp without FM IC

I’m in south Florida, just did the Cobb goosetuned. Picked up really good power. Flushing coolant next week and doing distilled water and water wetter. I put water wetter in all my cars, costs $10 and drops temps down. I will also wrap the charge pipes and intake with dei gold foil heat reflective wrap. Hoping this will do the trick.

Forgot to add- I'm a front license plate state, but I moved my plate to the side to provide as much airflow as possible. Basically did what I could do with the space I had to work with.
I’ll take the ticket....

This is the best scenario using the stock components. A single nozzle just ahead of the throttle body will do just fine. A decent kit will have a controller based on boost, or some even tap into throttle position, and/or airflow.

You only need it at high boost/load conditions where it will perform much better than even the giant aftermarket intercoolers. The only thing better is the big intercooler PLUS WMI.

I ran WMI on my MazdaSpeed6, already have a kit for my Focus RS, and now that I’m thinking about it, I should order a kit for the Raptor as well. The cars are kinda difficult to mount larger than 1 gal tanks, but the truck should have room for 5 gals.

Water wetter is garbage. If you need to use an additive look to Hy-Per Lube.

From my experience in 14 different track cars water wetter did pretty good. I wouldn’t say it’s garbage.

Water Wetter, etc (other additives) increases the efficiency of heat transfer from the engine block to the water and from the water out the radiator.

Works best when you flush coolant and replace with distilled water and choice of additives. If you just buy an additive and throw it in with your coolant you will likely not see to much difference. They all do a pretty good job, but it’s our job to use it as intended and instructed.

Eddie G are you going to change the thermostat too

I will see how it performs first with all my basic mods I do to all my new vehicles. Then I will likely change thermostat as well. Maybe a 170

Just wrapped the Cobb intake with the dei gold foil. Only ran for a day but appears to have dropped iats by about 10 degrees. Will finish wrapping the charge pipes when I install the intercooler this weekend. Very pleased with the results.

I have been contemplating doing the same with mine, all the intake pipes though. I am also about to flush my entire cooling system, not sure why but my coolant temp has been running 15 deg hotter the past couple of weeks. Need to get it under control before the Texas heat really gets going.

I nearly ruined a nice custom Koyo radiator in one of my race cars using that crap... Love Redline oils but water wetter is marketing crap.

If you can’t get actual lab-quality surfactant (usually dry granule), one or two drops of plain old dish soap provides enough surfactant for most radiators...any more and you risk cavitation from all the other stuff in there that causes it to foam.

Edit: Well, what d’ya know...you can get some on Amazon. Honestly don’t know how it reacts with whatever antifreeze you’re running, so be careful and do your own homework. If I’m pushing my track cars hard in the summer I run a teaspoon or so of that with straight deionized water that you can buy at the grocery store by the gallon. I run a regular 50:50 mix of deionized water and whatever antifreeze is on sale in the winter.

Edit two: Here’s an “eco-friendly” version...cheaper too.
