You are behind the times son.

That was true with non pressured shocks.
Todays shocks are closer to motorcycle forks, but more adjustable.

If you set pressurized shocks at a psi that would aid in suspending the vehicle, the ride would be absolutely Awful. no one that actually used the truck as designed would do that.

shocks control the suspension travel. Springs suspend the body over the frame.

Not even close. Motorcycles have springs inside the forks to control ride height.

A Presurized shock does not change spring rate.

The internet is your friend, you might try using it to become current.
Air forks have been used on Motor cross bikes for the last 10 years.
The pressurized shock does add to the spring rate. Have you tried to compress a charged shock.
Its not in the magnitude of the springs.

on a truck, standing still, in particular with the rebound cranked, the shocks would most likely have a static ride height impact, as they are creating force between sprung and unsprung weight.

However, once the truck is in motion, the shocks do nothing to impact the natural resting height of the spring. The shocks simply control the motion of the sprung weight.

This is physics 101.

And they are going back to springs. Air forks suck!
