so the other day I brought my truck in for service...oil and tire rotation. The week before I lost one my tire cap on the beach, so I installed a different one on the passenger rear tire. When I got my car back I visually inspected it, as usual after service, and realized that the tires were not rotated, since the different cap was in the same spot. We had a nice big argument about it. Now I sent my oil for testing to see if they changed it.
Anybody with experience on that?

Was this a Ford dealer or other shop?

Every time i watched my tires get rotated they leave center cap and lug nuts on floor where tire was removed from. I also get them rebalanced every rotation. Wheels change spots , cap and lugnuts stay where they originally came from. Just saying

When I go to ther local tire shop I can look, at this place you have no access

It's sad that they skip on stupid things to make a quick buck

IF they did a rebalance at same time that may be why the cap was in same spot. Measure your tread depth on each tire , if they truly did rotate, I would say your rear tires should have a tad more tread than your front tires currently .

Trying to track the wheels by the position of a center cap is a fool's errand. Most likely explanation is what 1bad454ssv2 said above, the lugs and center cap stayed in position while the wheels and tires moved around. If you want to go to the dealer playing Perry Mason, mark the tires on the insides really subtly with chalk.

If you really wanna know next time put a piece of painters tape on the inside of 2 front or rear wheels, or write #s or letters on inner sidewalks of each tire w/ a permanent paint marker (I’ve used chalk before but can get smudged) honestly I did this myself because I had a separate set of snow tires on my last truck & it helped me keep track of what tire was where when i took em off for the season.

Otherwise run the risk of having uneven wear which really negates the purpose of having 2 wheel/tire setups to begin with.

I’m going to put studded snows on the raptor as well will do same thing w/ chalk.

I have another embarrassing tell, I often touch the curb in front of my house on the passenger side, so the tire wall shows that, plus they admitted it
