I just unhooked the whole sensor unit and nothing pops up on my dash, occasional adaptive cruise control off, but it's rare

I'm going to show my ignorance here but does the relocation kit make it still usable? I mean after you relocate it can you just have it calibrated and continue to use it?

No. I went to dealer to re calibrate, and being told it’s unavailable, then i ask the them to disable this feature

Yes, that's the whole point of the relocation kit. I have one for sale from ADD if you are interested. I started to install and realized my light bar behind the grill would block it from the relocation . But it will still work, just need to angle it right

I never had to recalibrate mine after I moved it using ADDs relocation bracket. Only had to re-aim slightly which can be a pain if you don’t have a joint and extension for your sockets to get access to the bolt without removing the grill.

I had to do some re-fitting after a giant launch and could never get it to work right until I got it aligned.
