F’ing microsoft.

Mine constantly says “invalid playlist format” when I try to plug in my iPhone. Some songs it won’t read, others are fine. I’m just hoping it gets a little better, not expecting a miracle that’s for sure.

Well I got the files on a USB drive, but the truck won't recognize and the display in the truck doesn't match the directions on the website at all, only generally. Think I'll end up paying the dealer to do this. According to the website, I'm supposed to need this update, but their directions page is taken down. I searched up a second set, and it's not real close to what i'm seeing.

I remember reading the instructions on the ford website and it says the files will unzip automatically when you drag them to the USB. Thats totally not true, so make sure you arnt trying to install a compressed file because I remember the directions being so poorly written and I wasnt sure if they wanted the zipped file or what. Turned out they want you to unzip it. You should have files something similar to the files in my picture. Also, try using a different USB drive if you have one. Maybe throw an mp3 on there and make sure it plays to see if your flash drive is communicating with your head unit

I never saw a zipped file. There was about a dozen files including auto install. The flash drive is brand new.

You’re right about their directions too, damn near useless.

I personally like the SYNC system in my Raptor. Is it flawless, no, but it works pretty damn good. The variety of inputs is astounding.

Try encoding the music files to WMA and see if that helps, Microsofts codec.

I have just over 500 GB of music saved as 192 bit MP3 files, and about 50 music videos. I use several different flash drives of various brands, sizes and speeds. Very seldom do I have any issues with the metadata, song titles, album art, etc.

I also use three different iPods, 8 GB Nano, 120 GB Classic and a 160 GB Classic. I connect the iPods through the component(RCA) jacks using an apple a/v cable so I don't have the system indexing for long periods of time. This allows me to swap the iPods out very quickly but I don't get the metadata on screen and no voice commands. This setup allows me to play music videos when parked.

just adding more info to the thread for future.
When I did this update, the first USB drive said it was unrecognizable by the truck. Yet it works perfectly fine on multiple computers.
reloaded files onto a different drive, and it got about 15minuites in and threw up an error asking to re-download the file.
I just recopied unzipped files from my computer and it completed the update fine.
DID NOT LOOSE RAPTOR GRAPHIC
but, yes you loose your wallpaper and phone connection. no big deal there.

One thing that does annoy me now though, is that when I get into the truck (with the phone playing Pandora), I use voice command and say "bluetooth audio"...it used to connect to the phone and start playing...now it responds with "bluetooth audio...say a command" and I have to say "play" before it starts.
And then going back the other way I would say "radio...FM" and it was all good. Now when I say "radio...FM" it responds with "radio help...say a command".

oh yeah, one last thing...the last step is to upload a file back to Ford, and that didnt work for me. I go back to step 4, and the page says the site is being maintained, come back later.
