OK, I will play on the safe side try 3.375 later. Don't need to change the tune or anything, right?

No need to change the tune up for that. The computer will sense the load and hit the appropriate timing and fuel tables. 3.375" is plenty safe!

Just joined site and my first question was how everyone who is having superchargers added how happy they are with it and what brand y'all recommend. I was leaning toward the whipple but now concerned with this problem with fitting. Mine is a 2014 and will have to check to see the build date. Look forward to additional info and good luck with this problem of it fitting.

Call Whipple first.
It's not every 2014 and it's random which ones are tight and may need a little firewall tweaking.

Looking back at the install, I think hammer the firewall solves the problem. What my shop did is kinda overkill. I haven't been in a Roush raptor, but I am very happy with the whipple. Problem is, when you get used to the power, you will want more :ROFLJest:

Resurrecting this old thread...

Planning a Whipple install. Parts should arrive in a few weeks. I thought that I had done a good job researching the potential issues until I came across this thread. Called Whipple today and Dennis (very helpful) confirmed that the issue does exist, but is not associated with a specific build date, and seems random. The problem is that the truck will be completely disassembled before I can confirm fitment.
So, has anyone had to move the cab? If so, is it a DIY job or best professionally done.

So, the install is done. I did have an issue with the cab being mounted forward. I found that the bracket that holds the fuel line was contacting the manifold. Some grinding and bending solved the problem. No cab adjustment was required.

The back bolt issue...
I had to leave the drivers side back bolt out to get the blower in. It was easy to install by hand later. The issue that some have had with the passenger side back bolt was tackled by experimenting with different combinations of adapters. Taping the adapters to the IC hose. Installing the blower each time (don’t use the gasket until the final install) and trying to get a 1/4 ratchet on the extension. The final combination that worked was a 10mm 3/8 wobble socket, 1/4” adapter, and a 2 7/8 1/4” extension. A 10mm 1/4” wobble socket could also be used but the length of the entire combination should be right at 5”.

Another major difference that I encountered from the install in this thread was that the IC coolant lines from the back of the IC are now both routed to the passenger side. Had to call Whipple to get the correct hoses and fittings.

In summary I found the install to be fairly easy if your inclined to do it yourself. Use some old cushions for your knees on the front bumper and one on the radiator for your rib cage! Whipple is helpful when needed for consultation. The tune is now done with an SCT tuner.

Awesome upgrade! I’m liking the added power.

Quite honestly, the 6.2 loves the boost, this is a great daily package, cant imagine driving with less than 600hp..lol
Once JDM tuned my truck it became way happier.. better mileage, shift points improved etc etc.

Can you explain the routing of the IC coolant lines. Did you not receive the correct fittings with your kit? Mine is being delivered Monday and before I start the install, I want to make sure I have everything to complete the install once begun.

So, Whipple needs to edit the install manual on pages 46 and 47. As well as several other places. I have an electronic copy and will send it if you want. It helps to have it to zoom in on some of the pictures.

Step 132. As far as I can tell Whipple does not make the correct hose for this step. I received a 5/8 hose “twice” when the fittings are 3/4. They recently changed the pump outlet and HE inlet size to 3/4, the manual doesn’t reflect this either. I used some leftover 3/4 hose and made my own. Not a big deal to do but wasted time talking to Whipple.

Step 126 is incorrect. It should say this: (replaced 90deg with 45deg)
Install the supplied 3/4” ID x 64 ½ ” rubber hose with the 45deg –10AN fitting (1” wrench) to driver side intercooler fitting. Install the 45 deg fitting to intercooler fitting. Tighten –10AN 45 deg fitting so the fitting is 90deg from the front of the vehicle (face towards passenger side).

I did not receive the correct 45deg fitting. Whipple overnighted the correct part, but the fitting was not pre-installed like the 90deg for the passenger side. I’ve read that it’s best to not use the supplied clamps so I used a couple of really nice BMW clamps instead. You really want to be sure that you don’t have a water leak back here! Use teflon tape on all of the pipe fittings!

Another confusing thing is that the pictures show the old setup. Really not good! Here is what it should look like.
