Timely discussion. When I dropped my truck off this morning for PPF, ceramic coating, and tint, I was advised against doing the sunroof. They said they do it all of the time at the customer’s request and that it would likely be a nonissue, but they wouldn't warranty the work. The film soaks up heat, which can cause the glass to crack, even with a 70% film. He showed me a couple of pictures.

I just did my windshield at 80% ceramic. I inquired about the sunroof and got the same answer. I don't think it is worth the risk. Just do all windows and windshield and that should be enough to keep the car cool while driving without having to put your fan at 10.

I have Llumar FormulaOne Stratos installed on my truck. I had them install 15% on the two front windows. 30% on the rear windows. 50% tint on the windshield. 5% on the moonroof. I believe I paid $640 for everything.

How long have you had the sunroof done? Does the glass get really hot?

Looks amazing. Congrats on the job man. I regret not going for at least 70%. On the flip side 50% and my blindness at night would not be safe for me or anyone around me.

If you’re asking me, they’ve been tinted since a week after I purchased the truck. Feb. 2018.

Since some of you are mentioning the glass to crack due to the tint, I’m going to thoroughly inspect my sunroof soon to see how it looks. I don’t see how this happen unless the film is shrinking and applying force on certain parts of the glass? Who knows.

Yes I was. I assume the tint reflects too much heat for the glass to handle? Or maybe just an issue on older cars
