Sport Mode Question

Yep. When I'm running in Baja mode on a 50 mile primitive road, it's nice to short shift when I don't need max power, which is a lot of the time. Same goes for avoiding the extended high RPM period Sport mode implements after getting up it for a couple seconds. And I like the engine being exactly where I want it to be... so I drive in falppy mode ~24x7, even with the delay. If Ford put in a good DCT (it's not good for crawling so I doubt it) or even a ZF 8speed... I'd be in line for a new Rap.

While I agree manual shifts are extremely slow to respond, I find the way it holds RPMs excessive for some situations, and then manual is the answer. I particularly like manual when I'm in Baja mode. I find if I'm hustling in sport on pavement I'm hustling the whole time and full auto is OK. When i'm hustling on gravel or offroad in Baja, there are frequent times where I want to hold my speed or slow because of trail conditions, and then juice it, and then hold, etc... and in auto it gets tiresome having the motor hold at 4.5k rpms while I'm negotiating a particularly rough bit. I definitely like sport with full auto when I'm giving it the beans from a standstill. Shifts are satisfyingly firm.

Gear lockout feature seems applicable to this conversation as well. In auto, pull the downshift paddle (left) and the cluster will show 10 gears available, and the gear you're in. Pull the upshift (right) paddle, and it will close out 10th gear, pull again and close out 9th etc... Nice for towing, driving a hilly highway, or cruising 2 lane fast but sweeping road and you don't want to be in tractor mode in 10th gear.

How many gears can you lock out in Sport Mode?

Oh yeah...I agree and use that on the open road as needed and like it...

You have 3 modes. Normal, tow, and sport. Tow for a daily drive, and sport when things need to get done. Normal is limp mode. Should have a yellow light on dash

So you have had no issues whether you are driving around town or down the interstate in sport mode consistently correct?

I have been using sport mode for the past 2 weeks and I also have noticed my MPG getting better as well.....in sport mode it does shift a little rough when not really getting on it though, but switch to manual mode solves that issue.
