Dealer telling me I need engine replacement on mint garage kept 2013 SCREW w/ 70k miles.
I've had lifter knock since truck was new,but seemed to calm down over past 7 years.
What are my options? Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies! Pics are from dealer indicating;
"Valve spring failure on #5 cylinder caused valve to hit piston and damaged cylinder and metal debris in engine"
and a new engine is needed. Do I need a 2nd opinion?

What I know is had oil changed last week and had recall fixed and a last night truck started shaking when giving gas and nearly stalling at lights. Running rough would be an understatement. Flat bed to dealer and now $10k issue on 7 yr old SCREW with only 70k miles, easy miles too

Shaking and stalling is not the same as a KNOCKING or something that sounded wrong with engine. Did it just run rough or did you actually feel/hear metal hitting?

I only ask since I have had a few occasions where the MAF/IAC cabling came loose and caused it to go in limp mode and had similar effect (shaking, throttle issues, stalling at stop, etc)

as mentioned above the picture does not look bad-my brother has a 2013 6.2 had the exact same thing happen no power limp mode, drive it home five miles on limp mode, we pulled valve cover and found a broken valve spring, replaced it and everything is fine. if you pull cover and the valve spring was still there but broke, maybe like his the valve did not touch piston. in other words if the valve did not hit the piston probably fine. his was right at 70k when it happened now has 85k
