I see very few SCab Raptors vs. SCrews

I didn't really see a question in there but you posted to a thread dominated by people HEAVILLY partyial to the shorter version. Very few SCAB owners will try to dissuade you from getting one and say get the SCREW.

I will say these few things...
  • If you have kids or intend to carry more than 2 people over 50% of the time the SCREW will probably work better.
  • I spend 90% of the miles in the seat alone or with a single passenger, so the choice is clear.
  • I have sat in the backseat, am exactly 6 feet tall and there's plenty of leg room.
  • The rear seat-back seemed a bit upright to me, thinking I wouldn't want to sit back there more than a few hours.
  • I wish the half-door opened normally, the "suicide" configuration means no B-pillar for seat-belts.
  • Turn radius is a serious concern in some off-road conditions
  • Shorter wheelbase helps prevent high-centering when cresting a steep ridge.
  • A ton of other things I'm too lazy to list.
Thx-a-million for the detailed reply :) It helps.
I waver everyday on this. When spending over $70K on a new (factory ordered) Raptor, my logic tells me give your backseat passengers a "luxury" experience. . . even if it is less than 50% of the time. Likewise, keeping a $70K Raptor garage parked is smart and highly desired. . . even if it takes up both spots and barely fits. Lastly, I ponder why we don't see more SCABs. Why did Ford decide, "We're not gonna offer a sunroof on the 2019 SCABs"? Thx again!

No garage for me and my wife already has a 7 passenger vehicle. Its a piece of metal that lives its life outside. It really comes down to functional utility needs. Its been said before and I will echo, truck looks more "right" in the SCAB version. Also if you shop around for a deal you can get a very nicely optioned SCAB closer to 60k than 70k. That said I wasn't really considering price as a driving factor for what I think a truck like this "should have" , it was really more personal preference.

Because the sunroof is costing them more money in warranty work than they were making. And I bet most scabs are ordered without sunroofs. I know I ordered mine without.

because the Scabs logically should get more dirt time. sunroofs offroad in these trucks stink. Lots of issues if you whoop the truck from time to time. I have a strong feeling that I'll end up replacing the roof on my truck with a non-sunroof variant, especially if I end up caging it.

Good question on the sunroof. It is not only on the Raptor, but on the entire F 150 line. I wanted that as well, but am living without it.

I would guess they sold very few F-150 SCABS with the sun roofs. And since the roof on the SCAB and SCREW are totally different parts, it must have made financial sense for Ford just to get rid of the sunroof parts on the SCABS. Either that, or they just wanted to make it a way for people who wanted a roof to have to upgrade to a SCREW?
