You’re statement is misleading. Mine has a tune and so do many many others here and I have yet to read one case of a problem. It’s not hard at all to remove a tune prior to taking it in either.
It is you that’s being misleading. Yes you can flash back to stock but they will be able to tell that the ecu has been flashed recently. No one has said that having a tune means you WILL have a problem, only that it’s likely Ford will deny any powertrain warranty claims. You could try to lawyer up but if you had Ford money for lawyers you wouldn’t be worried about your warranty.

the problem is...dealers are not dumb. when you "remove" you tune. there is a time stamp in the ECU showing when the programming was flashed. Per the EULA we as owners are not "authorized" to change the programming of the vehicle.

So even if you remove the tune, the tech can see someone was in there re flashing the software. If there are no records Ford did it to fix an issue, then it is unauthorized code in the ECu and you are subject to the voided warranty that could come from that.

Not all warranty work will have ford doing that kind of research. But if you blow out a piston or turbo the 1st thing they are going to do is check and see if the ECU was flashed.

Exactly - good way to explain it.

Not accurate. Mine has Hennessy package including tune. Oil pump failed and complete engine was covered by factory warranty. They reinstalled stock tune. I had to reinstall my aftermarket tune but it was covered by warranty.

Yes dealer can tell, remove it before going anyway. Then it's up to dealer to decide if they think they can cover it anyway (these trucks are made for performance). If it's a costly repair Ford is more than likely to send their mobile engineer out to inspect. They have good intentions to try and cover it. Especially for Ford loyal customers, did you buy and Extended warranty contract, do you own other Fords, ect.

I’m surprised the Jb4 isn’t more popular for this reason alone. It’s a piggy back tune, when it comes off there’s no trace. Yes technically the dealer might be able to see logs with higher boost levels than normal, but for the most part the dealer won’t know it was ever on there.

Even with a stock truck, the manufacturer can still deny warranty coverage. Something to think about.

The problem with stating that Ford can tell you had "a tune installed" is misleading. Ford cannot tell WHAT tune you had if you return it to stock before they examine the problem. They CAN tell that the ECU was flashed - I believe it shows engine start counts. However, what is "a tune"? I have my truck that has "programming changes" for a 170F thermostat that I installed. It just commands the fans to turn on earlier at a lower temperature because I tow a boat here in Florida in the Summer heat. It also has the START/STOP switch always turned OFF so I dont have to push that ridiculous console button every time I get into it. So, what does "a tune" mean exactly? My point is, Ford cannot tell what type of tune or reprogramming was installed, only that the ECU Start count is very low (because something was erased and a stock program was uploaded). If my transmission is toasted, and they see the START counts on the ECU are very few, they can assume that it appears I reprogrammed the ECU. That IS a true statement. But, if the transmission lunches and it was NOT related to my tune (which they don't really know what my tune was), then they have to repair the truck. All I'm saying is they would have to have documented evidence proving that you modified the truck as an Owner, and most importantly that your mod caused the issue. And proving that is pretty hard to do when Ford doesn't have your "tune" to see what it actual did/does. On this Forum, there are a number of Raptor owners that have had issues with their stock trucks. It is important to understand that if and when you ever experience an issue, that you can poll the rest of us to see if we experienced that same problem. If we did, it's really hard for Ford to state your problem is unique and wiggle out of paying for the issue as long as the truck is under warranty.

Do you really want to go up against Ford lawyers? I am 100% sure they have much deeper pockets than any of us.
