Does anyone actually do as ford says and change your oil ever 10,000 miles? the guys at ford say change my oil every 10k or when the app says its time. I usually do it every 5k and they pretty much tell me im doing it to early and wasting money. when do you guys change your oil?

On my 2014 Screw I changed it every six months. I put a lot miles out in the Mojave but I've also lived by the old school mentality of changing oil (every 3k back in the day). I just picked up my 19 Screw and I'll probably follow the same philosophy because of old school habit. I do believe the times have changed along with quality of oil (synthetic) and engineering improvements. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but sometimes I wonder if manufacturers look at how often buyers actually keep the product and engineer/build to that lifecycle.

I would be curious to know what the average length/time a current consumer keeps their vehicle before trading/selling for a newer vehicle...I'm betting it's a lot less then the old days. So with this knowledge/data would a manufacturer build longevity only to the average length of ownership? This no doubt would be a cost saving to the manufacturers. I know I most likely won't keep any Raptor I purchase past 5 years because of the tech changes/upgrades will always entice me to get the latest and greatest.

I paid about 700 dollars when I bought my truck which gives me 5 oil changes a year and tire rotation as often as I wish. This is good for 8 years. I'm getting my oil changed every 6 months so only twice a year and tires rotated at every 5k.

You paid $700 and that allows you to get up to 40 oil changes? That works out to only be $17.50 per oil change (not including the price for tire rotations). That's a damn good deal! I wonder if I could get something like that from my dealership for my '19 SCREW!

yes..... some place between 7,500 miles and 10,000 for me since 2000. Audi, Volvo, Ford, VW all have a similar schedule.

I let the oil change indicator get down to 25% then I start thinking about my changes. Some times it's the next day, sometimes the next month...just depends on free time.

I have had zero issues with 10k oil changes using Mobil 1 full synthetic.

Yeah, it was their VIP service which also includes 5% off parts, free car wash which I won't use and 50% off a yearly detail. I really decided to get it because I didn't want to be lugging the heavy tires around when rotating the tires. The 5 oil changes a year was a bonus. Its 50/50 oil... the mixed blend. Extra of about 20 for full synthetic.

Funny thing is, this is only my weekend vehicle so I only drive it 2 or 3 times a week. Bought it October 2017 and I just hit 5300 miles. :p
