You are screwed when you go to sell. Doesn't matter if insurance covered costs for repairs, you have a damaged (repaired) truck with a bad car fax now. Probably $5K less than a non damaged Raptor on trade/sale.

That's right. Get a Diminshed Value report done and you can get a check for thousands as soon as the other person's insurance
settles up. I had an Infiniti M35 Sport that an old lady ran into from the side in a parking lot, 4 weeks after I bought it new. Her insurance paid directly for the repairs and I received a check for about $6,000 to compensate me for the DV just a few weeks later.

I second the diminished value claim. My wife's van was hit, the other carrier admitted liability. that day I got instant cash quotes from Carvana, KBB, and Vroom. Also, got rough estimate from edmonds, and went to the dealer who wouldnt give me an official quote but did let me know their trade in values for the van in different states.

submitted it to the adjuster, and got some good money from it. DO NOT LET THE ADJUSTER TELL YOU THEY DON'T "DO DIMINISHED VALUE CLAIMS" its a lie, and it falls under that person's property damage coverage. Use the magic words "my diminished value claim is reasonable and within policy limits."

When doing the cash quote pricing is there a section that allows you to put that the car was in an accident? If not how do you notate it's been in an accident so you can obtain that value.

Once you get cash quote from the websites listed above showing a crash you would then subtract that from retail, trade or private sale value?

I'm currently dealing with a recent accident and don't want to get screwed on DV claim.

Thanks for the advise and experience in this matter.

that would create it’s own set of problems though.
1) When the prius collides with another vehicle, it releases all the Smug(™) that it runs on, creating a hazmat situation.
2) the faux outrage and sense of loss priussies will experience at the loss of their prius, will be fueled by the smug and may result in spontaneous combustion of the priussy and could actually engulf the passengers.
3) Do those things have an EPO button? electric bikes that race the Isle of Man have to use an EPO for any potential crashes, to hopefully avoid electrocuting the road crew. Death by prius would be the ultimate dis.
4) your Raptor would be infected by the Smug(™) which normal cleaning will not remove.
Was a passenger that was t ***** by a Prius, everyone else in the truck ( 1st gen ridgeline) was ok, I just had my second back surgery, fusion, from the accident. I know the Prius is the perfect anti raptor vehicle but even they can do serious damage under the right circumstances.
As for the smug stuff didn't hear about any of that when the ridgeline was fixed.

This varies by state though, so OP will need to be cognizant of whether an adjuster is trying to dodge the claim, or if their state's insurance laws don't require it.

Raptors come pre-installed with max levels of smug, it just isn't noticeable because the truck is cool enough to back it up.

Glad you're coming out relatively unscathed, OP.

Not sure. I got a report done by a person locally that specializes in doing these reports. He was a former insurance adjuster.

Was leaving a parking garage traffic light turned red I stopped the Range Rover behind me apparently wanted to run the light and plowed into the back of my truck.

Built Ford Tuff is legitimate no bed damage at all only the rear bumper dented and trailer hitch scuffed a bit. Her car probably totaled headlights fell out, airbags went off. front bumper and radiator all pushed way back.

body shop estimate is only $1350.00 including labor.

Wife and I are fine and truck should be good as new.

Glad we were in the truck and not something else.

Her insurance already agreed and approved repairs truck so just need to drop it off one the parts arrive.

I don't care what the voices in my head are saying- if some old dude hits my truck and they are driving a Mercedes, they are paying to fix it.

If they were driving a 1994 Cavalier complete with mismatched chi-com tires, purple faded tint and peeling paint, OK sure, I would help them out too.

If I damaged someone's truck, I would not expect them to eat the cost of repairs just because I've been on this planet longer than them.

Your Avatar looks a lot worse than the story you just mentioned! Is that your truck, now? :D
