How long does a GEN2 cig plug stay powered after you get out of the truck

Installing a dash cam (BlackVue). It is my understanding the 12v cig plug shuts down after some time. If that is the case I am good. If not, I will need to buy one of their battery saver things that watches voltage or is a timer.

I park in the garage at night, so i am not worried about real long period. Just quick trips to wall mart and such.

i'm pretty sure the 12v and the USB's go for about 30 minutes after shut down....Don't quote me, but I believe you can make some changes to that with Forscan.

I had mine hardwired into the truck.. with a blackvue batter.

That’s what I did too and hardwiring is the way to go.

I hardwired mine with no battery. It shuts down as soon as I shut engine.

You might look at power magic pro. That’s what I used with my blackvue. Fuse tap for constant and another for accessory power. Programmable for parking mode time or voltage or just turn it off and cam dies when ignition is off. Use it when you need it.

Yes. Actually I hardwired w/ power magic pro. That's the way to go...

I’m pretty sure your cig plug does not shut down. My 18 stays on 24/7 powering a lap top & phone. Never had a problem and never seen it not in charge mode when coming out in morning to start my day. Pretty sure it’s hard wired in.
