Which confirms the idea that most options add very little in resale. A loaded Raptor lost around $10k in the first two years. A stripper probably only lost $3k over that same time.

stickers = $0
carbon fiber = $0
accent package = $0
heated back seats = $0
folding mirrors = $0
power adjustable pedals = $0
applique = $0
bed lights = $0
blis = $0

sunroof = $300
heated/cooled seats = $300 in some markets

The most valuable and worthwhile options are performance upgrades, which are the beadlocks and torsen. everything else does very little for resale.

That said, a loaded truck is still far more desirable than a stripper, so everything taken together probably adds $8k in resale. But compared to the $18k all of those options cost new, it is still a really bad deal.

No 2019. Your talking about the screen in the middle above the shifter. I'm talking about the 8 inch vs the 4.2 behind the steering wheel. Makes a huge difference IMO.

I actually agree with this a lot.

Go now and order it exactly how you want it. The longer you wait the more likely you are to end up overpaying for a truck off a lot somewhere.

Keeping in mind that I bought my 802A 2018 Raptor (only option was stowaway tailgate step - which I find useful for my 50 yo 6'0" body) for $63.6K, there is no doubt that the 802A is intended to offer things you don't need but may want (for me, leather seats with air conditioning). Nothing added to the performance of the truck, which still (1.5 years down the road) makes me smile every time I walk up to it and/or drive it.

On second thought, make sure you get the limited slip torsen differential up front. It's not as good as a front locker (for rock climbing), but it makes a difference you can see the first time you stick it.

This. I ordered my truck custom. Went with a list of features based on what I liked from my car at the time and some things I added from researching the Raptor (torsen diff was one). Salesman talked me into an 802a package because he thought it was better for resale. I said no to the sunroof and insisted on a SCAB. I really wanted the beadlock wheels, but the internet rumor mill and the dealership said that could delay the truck a couple months. I ended up waiting 8 months anyway.

All in all I am very happy with my Raptor and very glad I did the custom order. Since this is my first pickup it was a learning experience for sure. Knowing what I do now I would have changed some of the options. Probably would have started with an 801a and added a few things.

Mainly because most buyers and dealers don't know any better. They don't download the Ford order guide from 3 years ago and figure out every single option available, what was exclusive to certain packages, etc. They see what it has, and say "this is a lot nicer than my current ____", and that's that.

Looking for my SHO, I'd say about 10% of the private sellers actually knew if they had a model with ACC, massage seats, etc. They all claimed "loaded" in the ads, but very few actually were. Dealers- they had no clue AT ALL. "Hell yeah man, it's an SHO, it's loaded!" Go look inside and sure enough, no buttons to set the distance range on the ACC, no buttons on the seat for massage, etc.

I consider my self lucky as a past customer of Drew Ford in La Mesa, Calif which was taken over by Penske Ford I was able to get it at MSRP. 56K
